Your entitled to your opinion.

But I stand by what I said, Dean Smith isn’t at fault.

If you disagree that’s fine, football is all about opinions.
Haven’t read the entire thread but I don’t think anybody is really saying this is Dean Smith’s fault. Just the way the guy could’ve done the moral thing like he demanded Leeds to do last season. Complete and utter hypocrite.

Yes I agree to an extent, but he’s not entitled too and that’s my point.

They knew

The Villa players involved knew.
The defender and the goalie were just bemused wondering why the whistle hadn't blown. Smug barstewards.
The goalie was almost like a rabbit in the headlights waiting fr the vehicle to splatter him he was that convinced he'd ballsed up and that he defender was right in front of him so he couldn't even try to move forward. And the defender knew the same.
Robbed without doubt and that's not a description I use lightly.
Mind you, we weren't very good and certainly not good enough to deserve a slice of luck

Why to an extent? I agree he isn’t entitled to, but by his own morals it is very inconsistent. He’s proven that his morals serve himself and that’s it. So a bit of a cunt in that respect. Also suggesting that errors like this happen? Which they never have until today.

Again, the 3 referees at Stockley Park will tell Oliver that it doesn’t need a review!

It isn’t a VAR decision as it doesn’t need VAR! 😂

If it is then Stockley Park will tell him, they decided it didn’t, hence the communication.
Oh so that's why he was listening to his ear not moments after the goal was disallowed? For a penalty that didn't need giving nowhere near the same time frame of play? Yeah, that's what that was.

Try to ignore the Wednesday bastard. VAR expect from the lower division

Smith should have sent their players out at the start of the second half knowing from the half time information that it was a goal and they should of walked the ball into their own net .....scum bag manager for sure And he should have remembered his teams game against Leeds

You’re getting this completely wrong. I’m talking about the potential Villa penalty on El Ghazi.

The goal is a completely different thing which VAR SHOULD have reviewed and god only knows why they didn’t!

He said in his post match comments that he couldn’t tell until he saw the replay at the end of the game.

Fair enough if you choose to believe that, I don’t believe it’s a case that he didn’t see a replay, he probably didn’t want to because he knew it was a goal.

Do the same rules apply when one of your players dives for a penalty?

Your probably right but you can only go on what he says.

The game tonight and the game against Leeds were completely different though. Tonight the referees and the technology should have made the correct call. Against Leeds that’s up to the teams morals and discretion if they kick the ball out or play on.

Had many a dive/ penalty decision on your way to the Premier League. Would it be ok to go back and review those and possibly deduct points that could mean you‘d not got promoted?
Care to digress? Provide me with the instances of the “many a dive” we so heavily relied on to get promoted. Jealous pig.

Agree to a certain extent, wank goal line technology and VAR aside, but if we was in Aston Vanillas position, in the bottom 3 fighting for every point going, would you expect Wilder to tell Sharp to put it in the net from the kick off at half time? Or would you be telling your team that they’ve just got a dog life and to keep their heads up? Id be well pissed if we put it in our own goal.

But hey ho, how the f*#^ was that not a goal:oops: united, the first team ever to be screwed by goal line technology. Couldnt write it.
I'd expect us to do the right thing, in these circumstances if it was a clear goal and we were saved due to a technology failure.
Guess it depends on your sense of fairplay and playing the game the right way. I think Villa are being hugely let off here as no one else is asking that question, and it's huge hypocrisy after their reaction last season when Leeds potentially could have thrown away a promotion position.

Exactly. Clearly some of us on here have more sporting integrity, and a higher sense of the need for fair play to be observed, than others do.

After the Villa v Leeds fiasco at ER last season, it was total hypocrisy by DS not allowing Utd to walk a goal in at the start of the second half to rectify a clear injustice. He absolutely knew what had gone off at half time, he was talking to a very animated CW just before the kick off for the 2nd half, and everyone in the ground and their grandad knew the situation at that point. For him to say he didn't know otherwise... Well that's very convenient isn't it. Its total bullshit. He knew and chose to not tell his players to do the right thing. Fkin hypocrite.

Re the Villa potential penalty incident. Just to put that straight, Oliver saw it and communicated directly to Stockley Park to say that he had had a full view of the incident, was satisfied that it didn't warrant a penalty, and there was no need for them to review it. Hence SP did not review that incident. That is exactly what the Sky commentator told everyone at the time.

The technology either failed or (more likely hadn't been switched on), but Dean Smith should and could had done the right thing. He chose not to. That's the crux of the matter. Hope the fukas go down now along with Wet Spam and the banjo players in Norwich.

The referee has probably told them at half time that it was a goal and a mistake by the system, so they would have had the opportunity to let us walk it in. He’ll also have watched it pitch side, so will have known.

My theory is that the Villa players and coaching staff were all laughing their bollocks off and taking the piss out of Nyland during the half time break that they just didn’t have chance to discuss it. Then they kicked off and it was too late.

John Terry seems like a fair minded and honest type. Basically he's a lovely man.
Surprised he didn't say something to Mr Smith.

Fucking hell, at last the bitterness finally rears its head. I'd love to hear which 'decisions' you are referring to seeing as you seem so obsessed with United.
(I agree by the way that we do need to move on, the damage was done by the useless/corrupt officials in charge at the time and could/should have been rectified immediately).

To be fair to our fanbase most of those posters disagreeing are either Pigs, or closett Pigs.

It's shit, it's lacking in integrity, sporting conduct and fair play, but we move on. Any talk of playing it again or being given point is nonsense and for the birds.

I’m livid at the ineptitude of the several layers of people and technology that should never allow this to happen. Presumably Oliver’s watch boxes for every goal in every game he refs so I don’t blame him in a way. After all he knows VAR have his back.

The statement from Hawkeye seems to be full of holes. The mystery buzz at half time on Oliver’s watch. Why no Hawkeye pictures showing us what could not be calibrated?

The VAR statement is even worse. Seemingly saying that because the ref didn’t get buzzed that they couldn’t intervene. As if to say they would only get the ruler out if they could get a semi on trying to rule out a goal. So they all sat there tutting going ‘someone should do something about that’. Yes, you! You fucking cretins! Review it yourself. Get the ref to check the pitch side monitor. Take your thumb out of your arse and do something!

I don’t think Villa should have given us anything. I wouldn’t want us to do so. It’s nothing about someone having more integrity. It’s a deflection from the real issue.

I’m afraid we won’t see any further information or discussion. There are so many games coming up that we will be ignored and eventually be forgotten. As a club though, I would continue to push for some proper answers.

I was proud of the interviews I saw afterwards from Ollie, Enda and the gaffer. Disbelief but overall a kind of dusting ourselves down to go again kind of attitude. No victim mentality, no bitching.

To be fair, they couldn't be certain it was a goal. It's not as if the Premier League have come out and said it was in. I'm sure they'll knock up some bullshit image that shows a millimetre of the ball on the line.

Don't see how that's possible because from the pictures the keeper was in the side netting directly behind the post. If it's behind the post IT MUST be behind the goal line.

Did anyone hear Smiths comments on letting United have a walk in goal?
He basically says "Wilder wouldn't do it"
Which I think is a load of crap.
If Wilder went in at half time and saw the replay I'm pretty certain he'd do the right thing.
It's called sportsmanship. And to say this is professional football, top level football. There are very few cases of sportsmanship in the top game. It's embarrassing. My young sons were watching and this is the example they are being set? That is ok to be CHEATED???

Anyone would think nobody had ever been denied a goal by a bad decision before.

I believe that Wilder wouldn't do it. I thought it last night when everyone was shouting for it. I might be wrong, but I just don't think it's Wilders style at all.

We have been told the seven cameras couldn't see if it was a goal or not.

I'd like to know where these seven cameras are placed at Villa Park - i'm also interested now as to where they are at BDTBL and how the camera angles differ at different grounds.

UTB

What little faith. I would applaud Wilder/United if an opposition team scored a BLATENT goal that wasn't counted and they let them have it via a walk in goal. I'm a big Blades fan, but things need to be fair for EVERONE. Football will never be fair if everyone just shifting blame elsewhere.

You know what, I didn't really think about it the other way round. I guess i could almost imagine Smith saying "go on, walk one in" and Wilder sort of brushing it off with a "don't worry it's done, wasn't your error" kind of attitude.

I dunno
