Firstly I dont buy the official statement given out by Hawkeye tonight re all the cameras missing it. For the ref to have confirmed that he got the message at half time it can only mean that at least one of the cameras had seen that it was over the line, so I think they are just trying to cover up human error ie. They hadn't turned it on for the first half which is just incompetence.
Then after this fiasco, why didn't VAR get involved and tell the ref to go and look at the pitch side monitor which would have confirmed it was over the line. But for whatever reason they chose not to.
Thirdly, where was the fkin linesman, surely he should have been looking straight at it, and told the ref to check the monitor?
And last but not least, whilst not hid fault te the above mentioned incompetence, with everyone clearly knowing that there had been an injustice, why didn't Dean Smith not tell his players to allow Utd to walk it in for a goal at the start of the 2nd half. They knew, what had happened at half time, everyone did.
That fact they didnt do that tells me all I need to know about their professional integrity (or lack of it). Poor on Villa's part tonight. They should have allowed Utd to score, justice is done, and we go again for the 2nd half.
And would CW have done it if it was the other way around...? We will probably never know, but i would be disappointed with him if he didn't. I actually think he would do it tbh, cos he is a man of integrity and wants to win at everything, but not by having to cheat to do it.
Anyone who says Dean Smith wasn't faultless tonight is missing the point. They could and should have done the right thing by fair play, and didn't bother. Piss poor.
