Ever scored a goal for United?

I was pretty confident it's Tony Philliskirk , until I saw he scored in 1988.

Maybe he's just got a bad memory ?

The nearest I’ve come and probably ever will was back in March this year. It was my eldest grandsons birthday party at the academy, him and his pals were having a great time being coached in tactics and playing 5 a side games whilst me and some of the dads were having a kick about. Then someone suggested a dads v lads game, I ended up playing goalie wag. Anyway to get to the point after a while I got fed up trying to stop a large mob of seven and eight year olds charging at me with the ball so I set off, brushing all these waist high boys (and one girl) aside in my bid for glory, I passed the ball out wide to my left and side footed the return cross into the unguarded net wheeling
away arms aloft. Not for United or even at The Lane but just because I’d scored at the academy on sacred United AstroTurf or whatever it was.

I scored an goal for Junior Blades under 15s in 1988. It was in my own net - I was playing for Abbey Lane. We were already 6-0 down at the time.
I was walking through Cowley the other night and noticed a football pitch near Holmesfield so I looked at the sign near the gate and it said "Home of Abbey Lane JFC" which surprised me because when my son played for AFC Dronfield at Abbey Lane's ground 10 years ago and it was at Matthews Lane.

we played at Maud Maxfield at Ringinglow that season.

I have been lucky enough to play in warm up games before 4 testimonials, Stan & Brian Smith for the Blades at BDTBL & 1 at the pigs ground & 1 at Millmore, although I can't remember who those 2 games were for. It was basically Blades fans v Pigs fans with mostly very good amateurs & ex pro's, albeit at the wrong end of most players career. We were given an official kit from United both times, the famous green fluorescent shirt & I wore Deano's number 10. It was weird actually because I am just about 6ft on a good day but the long sleeves were so short I couldn't get them anywhere near the wrists, no wonder Deano always pulled them right up when he wore it. Anyway the Blades fans won both games, in the first I scored at the Kop end, chipping the 'keeper, & scored another at the Lane end in the second half, hit the bar with a header & had one cleared off the line so missed the hat trick I wanted. I did score at the Lane end in the 2nd game as well to keep the run going just in case........In the Millmoor game I played at the back & was marking Varadi, not easy as I was in my 40's by then, but he didn't score, & in the Pig game I found out 5 mins before kick off that there were not enough Blades fans to make a team & in any case I was down to wear a Pig shirt, but I refused point blank & went in goal instead & wore a big Blades badge on the shirt to ward off evil spirits!

So to answer the question, no I haven't, but I sort of have too!

As attested in the past, Warnock said he'd have stuck me on in Scarborough, Trinidad in 2000, against their 1st X1, being as me and my buddies had blagged a seat on the bench and no one wanted to go on in the second half. I'd had a few ales though. Blackwell went on instead and fucking scored. That meant I would have made it into that book. Gawd-dammit.

Went out later on with the team to a 'school' music bar.

The evenings events are redacted, save for the fact that we had a 17 year old Phil Jagielka on a right old bite that me and my matelot buddies (one of them a pigfan) that we were licenced to kill people. He believed us, the daft twat.

Met up with the rest of the Caribbean Blades the next day on the sand on the beach by our hotel. I hadn't been to bed.

It also seemed that everyone we met there knew Dwight Yorke. I told them I knew Sean Bean.

I'm sure the lad in the far left of the photo used to be my dentist when I lived in Sheffield. He worked at the practice on Ecclesall Road, opposite Endcliffe Park. One of the dentists had an E Type Jag if I remember.
I'm sure that I met him at a pre-season game in the David Weir era ☹️

Scored 3 , but missed 5 against Blades' keeper,Tom McAlister. In 1975ish I entered a SuperStars contest ( Based on the TV version where 8 stars from different sports competed against each other in 8 different sports). This one was an Amateur event, in other words I wasn't a star. In the football section we had to to take 5 penalties , and then 3 runs at goal and the goalie was allowed to move or come out and tackle. The goalie was The Blades Tom McAlister. I missed all 5 penalties ( Tom saved 4 and other went wide). However, in the 3 runs at goal I managed to score all 3. I asked him if he had let them in deliberately but he said no I beat him fair and square. However, I prefer to think otherwise. For those who remember Tom he played for us up until around 1975 and then went to Rotherham. He was highly regarded and gave us good service. I think he sustained a badly broken leg against Man. City and was not as good afterwards. BTW if anybody is still reading I finished 3rd out of 8 in the whole competition.

The practice is still there and now called LWT Dental Care .

The dentist who had the E Type was John Lucking , my dentist for 25 years before retiring about 5 years ago . The senior partner of the practice was a bloke called Terle Phelan who is no longer with us .

Scored a hat-trick of penalties in front of the kop in a half-time penalty shoot out during the game vs Coventry. Can’t remember the name of the young United goalkeeper that was in goal. Closest I’ve ever come.

Terle Phelan, that's the guy on the photo👍

Ken jnr scored for the Blades in one of those a Football Aid games. Left foot, edge of the area at the Bramall Lane end. Won 6-3
Believe norfolkblade was in goal for Ken Jnrs side.
Ken jnr was the last one out of the changing room with George Santos - who was their pro captain on the day.
Great goal, Santos was a class bloke as well although he decided he would have his shower while I was having one. Never felt so inadequate 😂

I once scored a penalty against Steve Conroy at a United open day at Bramall Lane. He saved my attempt but the rebound came to me and I made no mistake second time round.

I once Scored a pen against Paul Tomlinson at a Blades open day, he went the right way but the sheer power in the top corner beat him, it was 5 a side nets not full size has well. That unfortunately is as near I ever got to scoring for Utd.

The guy on the photo is called Russ. He’s the club dentist
My mistake, but he was the guy who was my dentist. Good lad too.
I think it was Falkirk pre-season, or somewhere like that, where I last saw him.
I think that the dental practice was called Terle Phelan 20+ years ago?
