I am really surprised there hasn't been any posts today about speed looking like getting the Swansea job. Is know body bothered if we lose him??? SSN is reporting that he is the front runner

The thing with Speed is, I don't think he sounds that articulate or intelligent. He may be experienced at the top level, but that doesn't necessarily make him a good manager. If he goes, he goes. I imagine we could get a first-team coach of similar standard for cheaper.

He would seem to have credentials that would give him a shot as a manager.

However, he has been 1st team coach in a couple of seasons of really poor quality football. Either he is OK with this (in which case no great loss) or he has no influence over Hoofy (in which case . . . ).

I think he might take it this time. Kind of a shame as I like Speed but it would be a good opportunity for him. It might also help reduce our wage bill as he is probably still on a packet at our place.

If he stays, all the better for the coaching side. If he goes, good luck to the guy he's served the club well while he's been here.

I understand what people are saying but were trying to recruit new players never mind staff, there aren't many just kicking around.

We've refused them permission to speak to him.

If I were him I'd stay here. Swansea have over achieved and the next manager will struggle to get them near the play offs IMO

I completely disagree; he is much more media savvy than KB and think he has come over as intelligent and articulate on A Question of Sport. I still hope he will be our next manager as he is highly regarded and would attract players

if we are standing firm, why did we let him be interviewed for the job last time round??

Last time around, didn't he have a clause in his contract?

Surely they can't afford Zola,Speed is a coach who has been on the field everyday does his style of teaching football attract that many admirers,we don't play like Spain and get slagged off as playing hoof?
He is unproven as a manager it keeps being said he would attract players how do you know that.He would be a cheap option for them but no experience as a manager in any league.

I'd want Speed to be given his chance because he is the only member of the coaching staff who gives a shit about the academy lads.
Blackwell and Ellis treat everyone down there with utter contempt and it doesn't benefit the club to have such fractions between the first team and the kids.

I've been convinced from the start that Speed isn't going anywhere, I just hope that it turns out to be the case.

Is it significant that Swansea have been refused permission to speak to Speed if SSN are to be believed. Does the club have long term plans for him? Is he worth the risk of a punt at our manager's job. I'd like to see him given a chance....anything to avoid the dross served up last season.

Surely being rude to the kids is not part of the "Blades Way" is it?

I've heard similar although I didn't think it could be true. How much of a fool would you feel ignoring an England youth international who then plays five games for you before moving to Prem in a whirlwind move?
