Prem to finish

I agree as much as it pains me as I am missing Football so much.

The June start date is fantasy stuff really so all the discussion about who will show it is superfluous. I know I have said this before and of course been accused of being negative but it's realism. When I see all the tabloid stories and daft ways they are going to get games going I am surprised people would read it and think it is possible that we will see games in 4-5 weeks time?

Deaths back up to 800+...still nowhere near the set 100,000 tests per day and no real concrete plan of a track and trace system. Can't provide tests/PPE in large enough numbers to those that need them.

The football authorities said they would not consider starting until it was safe to do so (they mentioned the 5 things the govt needed to hit)

We are a lot longer than 4 weeks away from that. 4 months might be a more sensible discussion in terms of Sport coming back.

Germany were hoping to start mid May but are now running into major issues and the govt have not approved the league restarting. They are a long way ahead of us too.

It would take nearly 300 people to get a game on per match so you are talking 6,000 people per round of league matches required just to get football back on behind closed doors. You'd need lots of police too as people will congregate too. If the govt can't provide enough in the way of testing, PPE to hospitals/care homes then how are they going to find all this kit for the 6,000 above and frankly why should they for something non essential.

Still not seen an answer either for it one person catches it...then what....the whole thing is postponed again?

I think it would be quite irresponsible to endanger people's lifes too and as others have said quite immoral. Would people rather things we have (testing/PPE) are used in care homes and for essential workers or to get some football matches on? It irks me a bit that people are actually pushing so hard for it when surely it boils down to that simple question doesn't it? I know this is a football forum and we'd all love it back but we have to be realistic. Football/Sport is right at the bottom of priorities for he country and world right now.

As I have said before I do not think we will be seeing Football (even behind closed doors for a long time). Eventually the Premier League and EFL will just can the season I predict. I don't think they should and would rather finish this season even if its 6 months or longer down the line but when we get to June, then July and then August and nothing restarts all the other leagues will have made decisions and the UK will follow suit. The only question is if they finish it as it is with places based on points per game for any games in hand or just scrap it completely. I worry for us it will be the latter.

Just has a matter of interest how do you get a figure of nearly 300 to get a match on ?

Sadly this is Karen Brady but seem numerous other articles saying the same in terms of numbers needed
Brady obviously has an agenda. She wants the season abandoned.

She reckons police officers will need to be in the stadium. They won't. They can patrol outside if needed. She reckons media will need to be in the stadium. They won't. Only a couple of technicians will be needed, the rest can work remotely. She doesn't even attempt to explain where she gets the 3-500 figure from. I've said previously that it could be done with 50 in the stadium, including the players.

She also says "if a player gets injured, where do we send him? It can’t be to an NHS hospital that is already under pressure … so then what?”

How many games result in a player being sent to hospital? And has she not heard of private healthcare, which continues to function and treat all kinds of other ailments during the corona crisis (as does the NHS)?

The Bundesliga have calculated that each game needs 300 in attendance. They’ve also calculated that to complete both 1st and 2nd divisions, they need to do at least 20,000 tests.

It’s my understanding that if a professional footballer injured themselves playing football they would firstly end up at an NHS A&E department and then future treatment would be private. Depending on the treatment needed, that may be carried out in a NHS hospital by NHS staff. If they caught Covid 19, they would be treated by the NHS.

Is this the same Karen Brady that would like the season cancelled ?
She might be right but I'm pretty sure it could be done certainly with a lot less than 500 and probably with less than 300.
Media for a start don't need to be there certainly not in any great numbers they can watch the games remotely.

The Bundesliga have worked out the following numbers:

The maximum of 322 people in and around stadiums on matchdays includes players, coaches, referees, journalists, cameramen, doping control officers, stewards, groundsmen and ball boys.

They will be divided into three defined zones - 98 will be allowed inside the stadium, 115 in the stands and 109 outside the stadium.

Appreciate you are only quoting so this isn’t directed at you but why on earth would stewards be required

Regardless of how/where the games are arranged and held, people will turn up. I’d guess that the stewards and security will make up most of the people needed outside the ground.

What do you suggest as a solution? I’m all out. The Chief Medical Officer has said social distancing for a year that’s that as far crowds at games are concerned. 50 % of EFL clubs will probably go under you’re right.

As for our old lives well they won’t be coming back for a long time if ever.. People have not lived with the end of an era in Western Civilisation since the end of the inter war years we are living through the end of the post war era now, it will be a very different world from now on.
I was born while rationing was in place after WW2. It was fucking hard for my parents generation, but they worked their bollocks off to make things happen. If they had the same defeatist attitude as some on here we would still be living with post war austerity.

Why does everything that happens in this country have to be compared to world war 2 ?

This just proves that some women are just better suited to cooking and cleaning, and some are are just shitcunts like Karen.

China, who claim to have very low figures now, are months deeper into it and still unable to get football going again there. And they have the advantage of having not started their season before the pandemic took hold. They are taking end of June or July now.

China, of course well known for their reliability on their figures, mind.

Fuckin hell Eddie, I hope you haven't burst into flames. Can see what you mean. Must be twenty fuckin posts today mentioning WW2. I bet they all thought they'd got away with it n all.
I can confirm I have not burst in to flames
