BIL. Because It's Len.

It's not nearly as bad on here as it was on "the old place" but every so often there will be posts reacting to one of Len's posts which the poster wouldn't even consider posting if it wasn't in reply to Len.

PS. I may well be back to edit that last sentence as there are far to many "posts" in there.

I didn't check the timing of postings, but len has plenty of negative previous (in fact, that's all he has), so it was a fair assumption.

As for the Pope/Catholic analogy, that's ludicrous. The Catholic Church would only ever allow a Catholic to sit on the Pontiff's chair, it's a very well known fact.

len doesn't deal in facts. He'd more likely bemoan the conclave's role in the election procedure and bang on about how other religions have a much more ambitious succession process.

Sorry, don't know what BIL is, will I be flattered when I find out?

You're actually guilty of what you moan about. How about responding to the issue?
I said our left backs were bobbins and we now have a bobbins left back, singular.
Surman was never the answer. Be nice to get one of the lost Kyles back (one of the good ones, not bamby from Arsenal).

I would have Arsenal's Kyle back in a heartbeat, but not to play left back.

Other than goalkeeper, which may or may not still be Sorenson, my major concern is both full back slots.

The Bartley thing is a bit like the Surman thing. Surman would have been good because he seemed to cost quite a lot, was once highly-rated and was at a Prem side. That he's actually done nothing much in his career was by-the-by.
Bartley has to be good because he's at Arsenal. Maybe he'll turn out to be a worldbeater but he was awful at the Lane and could barely get in our own very poor side.

That's a bit of a truism, you're right, of course it's BIL, but that doesn't necessarily make it wrong to do it. It's generally because he starts it with nonsense that needs to be challenged and I just can't help myself, self-appointed though I am.

I'm a bit worried now though. His usual tactic is that players we sign = rubbish, players we miss out on = would have been great, usual lack of ambition etc. Surman would have been ideal for that category, but he seems to be saying he doesn't think Surman's up to much, so not getting him's no great loss, which is a bit baffling.......

I met a man today in a car wash in Stockport who, seeing my blades stickers started to talk to me about Kyle of Arsenal. Apparently, Kyle of Aresnal's Dad uses the same car wash and has apparently been telling people how Kyle is desperate to come back to the Lane. No I havent had too much pop tonight and this is absolutly true. Make of it what you will.

To the clappers.

Do you really expect one of our skintest pre-seasons in the last decade to produce anything better than we've seen in the past few seasons, or come with less spin yet better signings?

I don't. I expect to see what we see every year - speculation, noises in the right direction eminating from the club, disappointment and a few makeweights signed. Defend the club all you want, but they will let you down 9 times out of 10.

Despite my apparently gloomy outlook, I'm not particularly letting any of it wind me up this season - I'll just wait and see and any positives will be a bonus. No ST and a lingering apathy from last season is helping me with this don't give a flying f*ck attitude tbh.

Or to put it another way - "set my expectations at a more realistic level in line with the club's history over the last 30 years and the resources currently available"

probably wont get the pair of them, weve let surman fall thro due to lack of persistance or lack of ambition(wage demands),simmo is wanted by b.pool, and that scottish kid is in celtics radar now.if we wanted these players so much, then we should have kept our mouths shut unless there were any bollocks behind the bids.Dont hold your breath blades, but i think weve peaked with the signings already.

I've got headache!

Far be it from me to defend Hoof but he is clearly looking for a left-back. The links with Mulgrew, Dickinson and Jordan speak for themselves. We don't have a match this week so no left backs are required until August. We could sign a 'Taylor' tomorrow. Personally I'd sooner be a bit more patient with the search for someone better. No panic necessary.

I for one will miss Jordan Stewart. His running-backwards, falling-down header will live as long in my memory as Monty's 100 foot vertical, fall on my arse, land on my own head, clearance.

Enjoy the season, have a laugh with those sat around us and sing-song, few away days down in London (roll on Millwall) and plenty of beer. We win some, we lose some and scrape the playoffs. We do the double over Leeds. Looking forward to it.

Absolutely spot on mate! And don't spend the entire season agonising over things that you have no contol over anyway. It's the only way to be a Blade and not grow old before your time!! :)

My feelings Exactly. I used to live in Bramley too albeit a long time ago. Must be the air or the Daisy that develops a balanced sense of priorities ;-)

Love your constructive comments...obviously must have hit a nerve...maybe too close to the truth for you.? But humour me...what is happening at The Lane at the moment that you don't like ? Try to avoid paper boy language thou

no worries...our lass calls me a lot worse :-).

To be honest,I'll start worrying re what is happening down at The Lane if we don't get a decent kepper and 2 decent defenders by the start of the season. We have had to cut our cloth due to the follies of previous years but we should now be able to build a squad at the right price. I just don't think it is time to worry just yet (I hope!) UTB

The simmonsen scenario is getting a wee bit long winded for my liking, surely united could have made some pre-nuptuals with him at the end of the season,or is it a fee they are wanting for him(stoke).

I'm up near the old graveyard. Better atmosphere in there than most Sundays on here.

Bought our first house at bottom end of Hough Lane, Handy for the chinese, buses to town and the Daisy and the Unicorn.

Happy days even though United were a lot worse then than they are now. (1979 - 1983)
