I would accept a freeze on season ticket prices for next season and free home cup matches, in exchange for no refund on this seasons ticket.
If they had a problem on providing free cup matches just a guarantee of a two year price freeze or possibly even two year season ticket.
Thoughts?

I think that would be acceptable for me.

I think they will offer refunds to be honest. With people short of money at the moment, it’ll be the right PR move.

Some suggestion on the radio today that when crowds are allowed back at football grounds like ours may be limited to temporary capacity of around 5000 with fans spread out around the stadium.. may as well play behind closed doors as do that there would be no atmosphere to speak of. And who decides which 5000 of our 30k season ticket holders gets to attend.

(TBH I’m getting more and more certain that it will be next year 2021 before crowds are allowed back)

Ideal time to bulldozer the Kop and get it rebuilt properly?

(But obviously not a great time from a financial point of view)

Just gunna throw this out there. But if they offer a refund there should bean option to donate the refund to whatever is needed in the community Covid wise.
Whether it be food banks, deliveries for housebound folk that can't do it themselves or whatever I think would be a good way of the club and supporters working together. I hope it does not come to it and that we can still play in front of crowds again but if it does I would like that option. If people are struggling they should not feel they have to do this. IMO.

I'd only save the money for this purposes too.

Of course, some people may now need the cash, so it'd still worth there being an option - should the club look to offer some form of refund.

Anyone wanting a refund is an arsehole, it's not the clubs fault that the games can't be played has no one heard the phrase "due to unforeseen circumstances"?
Completely agree metal.

Forgetting the current situation.....if I had been taken I'll and couldn't attend matches, would I be due a refund on my season ticket? No, of course not. Why then should anyone even be thinking about a refund which is equally not the fault of the club? I really don't get it.

I do accept, however, that the lock down has impacted a lot of people and that receiving a refund would help them so maybe the prem league could work with the government to put something together based on something like new benefit claims made?

Agree on season ticket refund but would like a refund for my 2 Newcastle and 2 Arsenal tickets. But again can wait until all this is over. Think there could be a lot of different opinions regarding Season Ticket refunds but for what it's worth just keep them at same price for next season.

I have only one thought on this at the moment.

Cart before horse.

Well, the current narrative from the great (not really) Bill Gates, is no more large gatherings before everyone is vaccinated. Next season could also be lost going on that potential timescale.

I know football is different, we are supporters and not customers, but I really don't get the "not the fault of the club" argument. If you've booked a holiday and it's cancelled due to covid-19, is it a case of tough shit, not the holiday company's fault?

It's a difficult situation and I'm not looking for a refund myself, but I don't think anyone should feel guilty about getting a refund or discount from future season tickets based on their own individual circumstances.

Not sure I agree with the holiday analogy YB because, unless you take out insurance, then it very much is tough shit. The only instance I can think of where refunds are offered for something prepaid is a concert or a show, but with those you've paid for a one off event which hasn't happened so not quite the same as half a season.

On a slightly different note as reagrds s/t. As an oldie in the 70+ range I can foresee a potential issue over the next s/t renewal. If the over 70s are still being advised to self isolate do I renew my s/t and then take my chances of going, assuming we won't all have been immunised by then and that the virus is still around. If I don't renew for next season my chances of a season ticket for the following season may be nil. I don't want to be really stupid and put myself at risk but I would hate to miss the next step of the journey the Blades are on. After all, we haven't had much like this last three years since I started going in 1959. I won't be the only one this applies to. In addition, the thought of not enjoying home matches with my son and pre and post-match pints with him, is awful to contemplate. My decision in the end I suppose.

Had 2 concerts cancelled this month, ticketmaster just say hold on to your tickets till the concerts are rescheduled....no refunds

The only thing to do is renew anyway and take your seat when it is safe to do so.
The germans are in front of us with this and they arnt allowing crowds at sporting events until end of August at least.
By renewing at least it will be there for you whenever!!
That's what i will be doing , I'm in the same age group as you and enjoy the social event of going to Bramall Lane meeting friends and family .

All the science so far saying no mass gatherings until a vaccine now obviously that could change but seems unlikely. Only seen one place say that'll be September. Most say 12 to 18 months away.

Season tickets won't be a thing to worry about renewing.

Vaccine or no vaccine, season ticket or no season ticket, underlying health problems or fit as a fiddle, whether you're aged 7 or 70 who's prepared to congratulate alone or with family in a crowd of be it 10 or 50 thousand. Far from being a doom merchant, I reckon it could be the season after next before we are anything like normal

Same for our lass she has ticket for some shows with her sisters, got the tickets but no idea when the show will be if ever, doubt she will be able to go now anyway she is in a vulnerable group who should be in 12 weeks isolation.

I had tickets for Ozzy but that got cancelled last year due to his health issue, we got a full refund because we couldn't make the rescheduled date. I would imagine once the new date is confirmed you will be given the option of a refund.
