There is so much turmoil it might mean we cant start playing football again until eary 2021, upon which time there is hopefully a vaccine and the season can finish off right where it left off. All players lose a year out of their careers but i cant see how anyone is going to be playing football this year. As soon as the virus has finished peaking it will nearly be winter where surely the virus will hit again. The only way i can see the world going back to normality is when we get a vaccine.

It will be less than 14 weeks I expect peak will be April/May, Italy/Spain will be sooner especially with travel bans in place, its been declining in China for last two weeks but of course this is not newsworthy so you hardly hear about it. It has no bearing on the current exceptional circumstances and should not be used as a precedent. As you say how are the rest of the leagues going to deal with two up from the Championship but none relegated from the Prem. A lot of Clubs are affected by this.

Harsh I know but we still don't know how the virus is going to run and for how long. No choice is going to be a fair one and I don't think playing out the outstanding matches is going to be more fair.

Some teams will have their players flattened out with the virus,
Some will have squads in quarantine or a significant portion of them.
Those players who have had the virus might take a good while to recover to match fitness.
Those in quarantine won't be able to train properly especially as a group working on tactics and team skills.
Some will be able to keep their general fitness levels ok especially if they haven't had the virus and have home gyms but that is no substitute for training as a group.
Many players will end up out of contract before outstanding fixtures are completed.

As much as anything else different teams will be at different stages of readiness at different times so one team might be raring to go whilst their opponent has half the squad in quarantine and the rest not fully match fit. This is a respiratory illness remember. Ok teams have key players out of action from time to time but this is a whole new level. Given the levels of money involved some teams might be encouraged to play players who are not fit and that is no good for their well being or anyone elses.

If they did it would be difficult to sustain a case as it would be a civil law and so have to prove unreasonable loss as a consequence of such a decision. Applying a systemic solution impartially is entirely reasonable, the worst 3 teams now are the bottom 3. More importantly it deals with the risk of coming back too soon and allows for a more rational approach to be applied when people are back to normal. I dont see the logic of suspending for 3 weeks when there is no evidence to say when this virus is going to stop.

Not saying they would die but this is a new disease and nobody knows what the long term effects on the individual are. Whilst most of them will be fit enough eventually we don't know how soon that eventually should be. Let's just shove them back on the pitch asap because some teams are **** hurt that finishing early the season "isn't fair". If we want to talk about losing money imagine the massive payouts if some players get their careers cut short by forcing them back onto the pitch too soon. Fact is there aren't any facts and there is the problem.

Most of us don't train and perform at the physical levels the players do so the vast majority of us are likely to feel absolutely back to peak health after a few weeks because we aren't pushed to their performance levels. In many people who have recovered there is evidence of some residual lung damage which might go away eventually, or maybe not.

I don't doubt that it's a serious situation, but there is a lack of a sense of proportion. This is assisted by 24 hour rolling news and social media where idiots are free to speculate and ramp up fear and panic - papers like the Mail and Express have developed this into an art form.
I do think that supporting carrying on normally for as long as possible is what we should try to do, but then I'm not a scientist. The media really aren't helping anyone by hyping up the situation. It doesn't need hyping up, it's serious, but people aren't helped by creating panic and fear. I honestly don't know whether football should be suspended, I don't know if anyone knows if this will help slow the infection rate. It's pissed me off though!

The BIG day is Tuesday when EUFA meet. If they cancel the European Internationals for a year ,it gives everyone time to complete a full season if all goes well with the virus . If the season starts back end of April it could be completed by the end of June still giving time for a break before the new season starts . May mean no play offs top 3 go up but if every club knows this before we resume no problem, FA cup abandoned unfortunately and the left over price money goes to League 1 and 2 teams to make up some lost revenue. But if the Euros are to go ahead can see a full season wipe out.

But if we're finishing the season for the sake of fairness it is reliant on opposing teams being in the same situation re player availability and wellness at the same point in time. Many players may be fine in themselves but at a moment's notice find themselves in a quarantine or lockdown situation. Effectively the best of one squad isn't necessarily going to be playing the best of the other. Ok teams have injury situations but this is on another level. How many fixtures will be set up and then cancelled at the last minute? If matches are arranged at the last minute will there be adequate planning according to the play style of your opposition? Logistical nightmare. Not sure the remaining matches would be a meaningful representation of the season and so the resulting positions wouldn't be either bar Liverpool.

In the grand scheme of things and what the country is facing is it worth it?
