No knee jerk reaction to last night, thought it for sometime.

Eternally grateful for everything Billy Sharp has done for SUFC but he's not a Premiership striker and his time is surely up. Say what you like about McBurnie but Billy spends most of his time on his arse looking for fouls, his first touch is more than often poor and he is slow in thought and movement.

Our strikers worry me more than anything and a lack of goals could prove to be our biggest problem.

Moose has been brilliant but can't do it all and his fitness is still an issue, plus he looks like he may pick up a knock at any given moment. Didzy can't hit a cows arse with a banjo but everything else is good, McBurnie still finding his feet, (although I thought he was better last night) and Robinson hasn't looked anywhere near good enough.

We simply must strengthen up top in January. Billy, thanks for the memories but probably time to go for a pay-day in MLS...
Great post.

And FWIW, habitually hooking your most potent goal threat at 1-0 up when your opponents look dangerous on the counter is NOT optimal gaffer. Not even close.

Great header Skip (off a perfect delivery it must be said).

Shame McB (didn't reciprocate off a great delivery), I know I'm not having a pop he's lost form, just as well we have one striker still on it.

Shame. Yes.

Even a tiny bit surprised ?.............

He looked absolutely knackered towards the end of his time on the pitch, having run himself into the ground today with the amount of work he did, both on the ball and pressing the Norwich defence. You are quite visibly just looking to criticise Wilder for whatever he does on this on the issue of Sharp. It was absolutely the right change at the right time today.

Your opinion, which I have to say is one I categorically do not concur, is noted.

I would have thought the habitual bit might have demonstrated gravitas. Obs not !

Why did Billy give it large to the Norwich fans after the goal? He has to be dragged away and even after the ref got involved he still gave some? History there?

They give him shit everytime we go to Carrow Road. He will no doubt be giving it some back.

Just been watching the highlights from today.

Billy's posture and spring for the header was world class. Most strikers, even very good ones, would be happy with meeting the ball, getting good contact and hitting the target with the expectation to score.

What Sharp does, time after time, is configure his body shape to whatever it needs to be to get the most amount of purchase and accuracy on the ball to leave the keeper with no chance of getting a foot or hand to it. Absolutely outstanding play from the skipper.

He seemed proper fired up and nasty. Stick at Carrow road is like having a badly formed snow ball thrown at you by a 3 year old.

If you're the opposition, firing up Billy Sharp is exactly what you don't want to do.

He really is a model pro and top quality professional, his longevity has been down to his commitment to honing his craft.

Billy Sharp looked absolute class today but he cant last 90 mins. He was right to start. McB on the other hand needs to up his game. Say no more.

They were giving him a fair amount of stick in the first half. I thought at the time doing that to Billy was going to come back and bite them..

He might not have the pace but hes lethal in front of goal (always has been). Intelligent and finds those sweet spots defenders always seem to overlook. The same happened when we first came up in the championship, think he struggled first season a bit but he gradually adjusted and managed to get on the end of everything. Hes precise and unselfish in the box, a true leader and one of our own. I only pray we can get a bit more out of him before he finally decides to hang up his boots.

he is quality. billy sharp no offense to that surprising everyone. because he is like the club gets 30 in league 1 & people say he's never done in top 2 divisions proves that wrong. then well he cant do it in premier league & proves them wrong again

the improvement in his game over the season is vast & likely our best striker at the club

On the couple of occasions I have seen St Billy out n about there is something very "lean and hungry" about him - He may be getting on a bit in Footballer Years but up close he certainly looks fit and ready, kinda reminds me of a boxer.
