Not bothered about Europe

Because teams like Wigan Bolton and even the grunters got to play spora Luxembourg with out having to spend the kind of money that should actually win a trophy

If we qualify for Europe most fans will be over the moon. Unlike winning the top flight and FA Cup, It will be something the Blades have never achieved before. It will be a brilliant achievement.

Instead of sneering, why not just stay away from the games?

You're the one saying they've spent hundreds of millions to play one team in Europe.
Yeah course I did

You've really let this get away from you, haven't you?
The quote should be
" they have spent hundreds of millions of pounds just to play espanyol " then you'd have a point

But it isn't its " they have spent hundreds of millions of pounds to play espanyol " which unfortunately for you doesn't mean they only ever play one team.and didn't build there entire infrastructure around a possible fixture against a middling Spanish team

Sorry if you got confused that's why I asked if you were on the spectrum as I genuinely couldn't believe some one could take something so literal who.didn't

So you're saying that your comment "they've spent hundreds of millions to play espanyol" really means "they've spent hundreds of millions to play espanyol, and play several other clubs in Europe, and challenge in the PL, and have a good squad to play in the FA Cup, ................"
Correct?

Obviously

Obviously
Not obvious if you are half-way competent at using the English language, it isn't.
Being as your comment actually turns out to mean that they've spent a fortune on staying in the Premier League - like everyone else has to - and they get the additional benefit of playing against Espanyol, what was the point of your assertion?

No need for the insults dickhead

I can't honestly see why this has turned into a rumpus, most of us have never seen a blades team in Europe, if it happens then all good imo, Chris will just ask for double the budget in the summer, pack the squad out, job done. Why this is a bickering contest is beyond me, it seems we have been spoilt by our success.

Eat shit !
It was your assertion, you must have had a point - they spent a fortune building a great squad to challenge in the PL, we will end up doing the same if we want to stay. They get to play in Europe, maybe we will too. What was the point of your "hundreds of millions" post?

Fucking brilliant !

Nope. Wolves have spend hundreds of millions to become a successful top flight team that competes in Europe.

You may as way say that Sheff United spend tens of millions to play Reading in the FA Cup.

Espanol were the team that Wolves beat in the last round. They are now in the last 16 where they play Olympiacos. If they get through that tie they could play Roma, AC Milan, Seville, Leverkusen. They have a half-decent chance of winning the thing. They are also eighth in the PL. What's not to like?

Stevo, NONE of us has ever seen the blades in Europe, hopefully we will next year.

Fingers crossed, Europe = attracting better players, more exposure, more. Money. What is there not to like

Your posts on this topic are ridiculous, not only that, you started with the insults first 😂 . Goes without saying that you dont think before you post (at least on this subject), but do we assume you also don't read them back, either?

Where did I insult anyone ?

Personally I don't want to be travelling all over Europe to watch the Blades although a trip to the San Siro or Neu Camp might be a great experience.
There are a lot of teams in the PL who are frankly just there with one ambition - to stay in the PL for the next season (and may be win the FA or League Cup as long as that does not jeopardize staying in the PL). They have no desire to move to the next level (apart from probably Leicester)
However I don't see CW being content with that. I really think he wants to push us onto the next level and that means playing in Europe, ideally the CL. He's never been one for "consolidating" either our two seasons in the Championship or this season in the PL and I am sure he will continue to push us this season and next to get into Europe. That will mean improving the present first team, being ready to move younger players in to be ready to replace older players as they lose fitness and more importantly improving the squad as a whole as to play in Europe you need pretty much 2 good teams to cope with injuries, suspensions and fatigue.
Looking at the last 3 to 4 years who would bet against him achieving that?

Playing in Europe is the best thing of football. The awaytrips are just next level fun, you see some different places in the world with your fellow Blades & it's just more recognition and rewarding for all the hard times we went through as a football club.

If Sheffield United plays European football against Ajax, that might be the biggest football game of my life personally. Never imagined that could be possible, and now here we are fighting for Champions League football.

It's turned into a rumpus because one clueless poster who I've just put on ignore requires us to stay in the Goldilocks zone of 8th to 17th from here to eternity, and that anything that might see us going a bit too high or a bit too low will have cataclysmic consequences. Don't want to do too well in the league, it might prevent us doing anything in the league

Absolutely baffles me that anyone could possibly be saying they don't want Europe. Yeh: let's try and finish 10th every season instead. That will be great. If we get into Europe we'll remember those trips abroad for the rest of our lives - and that's what football's all about at the end of the day.

Qualification for European competition is part of being a successful EPL side. The Blades have just potentially arrived, at that stage a bit earlier than we might have expected.
You could almost say the same about our arrival in the EPL.
Next season, we have already confirmed our EPL status, and we will be in the draws for the League and FA cups again.
I see no reason to worry about our involvement in Europe, even if that situation arrives a bit earlier than planned. The management and players are already exceeding most fans expectations, so I am not concerned about their ability to have a good crack at it.
My current concerns are focused on our remaining fixtures, especially in May, and with the Villa game to squeeze in somewhere, after a fallow period for fixtures. That said, we do seem to play better when we have games coming thick and fast.
Fingers crossed, next weeks Norwich game could well put us back in the potential Euro slots.
