Praising strikers who don't really score that much

On today's performance I'd rather have bought Maupay. He would score more goals in our system than Mcburnie.

Its the wrong thought process....the team result is much more important than who scores.

We didn’t score because against packed defences we lack quality regards composure and the final pass.
We had Duffy who could thread a pass through the eye of a needle and McGoldrick has that ability too.....we’ve missed his quality.

Of course the team result is more important. Hence why I don't make posts like this after we win. However, when we don't win but we have clearly dominated possessions and stats, you are entitled to ask questions (especially as this situation has occurred before). Packed defences is not an excuse to not score, we need to find away, that's if we have any real ambition of reaching europe and pushing on.

I would have taken Berge off. He needs a pre season to get up to speed and at the same time learn how to head a ball

But how many more would we have let in? McBurnie and the rest of our strikers are far more involved in the system than Maupay is at Brighton.

Obviously I wish our strikers scored more, but as long as we score I don't care. Maupay has scored 8 goals, good but not exactly pulling up trees.

Also, let's not forget McBurnie won us the reverse fixture.

Strikers should be sniffing goals Vs teammates offering crosses on a sixpence. Good strikers sniff out the goals and go looking and don't wait for the ball to hit them.

I’m not sure if Moose isn’t Nade MKII but he sure as shit isn’t fit enough. Oli can’t do it all on his own and while some of his hold up play is good he doesn’t hurt teams enough. Billy just wasn’t at it today. Not a sin but it just didn’t work for him.

Question is who the hell do you replace them with?

Actually thought McGoldrick was pretty average when he came on, the way the game was starting to slip away we really needed an actual goal threat (Moose) on the pitch.

The idea was just to stay up and the lads have done that with bells on, they've done great this season. and there's still more to come.

There's a thread I created before Christmas which asked forum members to offer their stance on McGoldrick not being clinical enough. It got pretty heated and was a popular thread at the time people vying for and against my point. My ultimate point in that thread was that he wasn't clinical enough with some opposite opinions saying we wouldn't be where we were without him DESPITE not scoring a single goal. I disagreed and since he got his injury we've been in pretty decent form without him and won some games - which some thought (or at least acted as though) we couldn't do.

A very small part of my point tonight was I proved those posters wrong. But, this isn't what this thread was about, I'm not being vein, I'm not saying 'I told you so' but it is pertinent to my point about strikers not scoring enough.

And as for a punctuation starved ramble....
