I think we will play one of the 6 new teams on opening day. Actually 4 new teams as i can't see them pairing us with Hull or Leeds on opening day.

Home 1st day: 5 times out of 10.
Home Boxing day: 4 times out of 10
Home last day: 2 times out of 10.

Home on all 3 dates: twice (2006 and 2007)
Away on all 3 dates: (4 times 2002, 2003, 2009 and 2010)

It is surely our turn to be home on the last day of the season again.

I would like to start the season as follows;

Portsmouth(H)
Preston(A)
Leeds(H)

Pompey will be all over the place at the start of the season and with their current situation will probably still be recruiting by the end of august. It would be good to hit them on our own patch early doors. Preston away presents a test on the road without being too demanding in terms of travel. A home game early on against Leeds would give us a chance to fill the ground early in the season and get a morale boosting win.

Last game of the season - I'll take whatever as long as it isnt away to Norwich or Ipswich. I know we won 3-0 there last week but its a notoriously pain-staking trip and it usually ends in disappointment. Other than the result last week, they're not happy hunting grounds for us.

Seriously - on what date are the fixtures published? I'm arranging hols and might hold off confirming car ferry to/from France; for example returning to Portsmouth might be preferable to Dover. Is ot possible to predict the likelihood of a home fixture on 20 Aug or 4 Sept

Thursday 17th June they will be announced.

The season kicks off on Saturday 7th August.
