The Premier league teams are trying to get the Premier league to insist that a decision is made by UEFA by the END of this season.
The main reason is if the 5th place club needs to plan for the champions league and teams below for the Europa league.
If the 8th club in the Prem is now going to be in the Europa League, as against the 7th then they need to plan also.
City have been working on a strategy for months as they have expected this for ages. They intend initially appealing to CAS, then a court in Switzerland (UEFA's HQ) and then the EU.
For me, the decision to ban City should stand, pending any appeal. If City win, then let City claim compensation from UEFA - this situation is against City, NOT everyone else who may be dragged into the sordid affair.
Image the 8th club in the Prem missing out on Europe next season, City perhaps winning it and the case being proven - there would be court cases all over from aggrieved parties - none more so than whoever finishes 8th..........the Blades perhaps?
Both UEFA and the Premier league need to be strong.
If you read the BBC article, it does mention that they "may" be allowed to see the same evidence as UEFA if they decide to bring a charge against City too. For sure if UEFA wins, expect the Premier league to go after City too..........now that would be interesting.
All in all, if the Premier league do eventually go after City - it may even mean relegation.
This issue is going to be big - it is estimated City would lose between £200m-£300m in champions league money alone - never mind fines that would accrue from the premier League and possible relegation if allegations are proven.
Manchester City are given 10 days to lodge their appeal against being thrown out of the Champions League.
