Think the Zivkovic signing might give a bit of a clue as to the kind of striker the management is looking for going forward.
A fast (very fast) and athletic forward who is supposedly a good penalty box striker. It’s clear there won’t be too many teams sitting in against us and allowing us to come at them and overload the penalty box, which is basically Billy Sharp country.
We’ve seen how important Moose’s pace has been, but his lack of consistency with the ball and certainly his lack of heading ability on the end of crosses has shown a big area for improvement.
Didn’t surprise me to see us linked with Lyle Taylor (although glad we didn’t sign him as I’d be blown away if he was anywhere near up to this level) but certainly that style of centre forward would be exactly what this team needs.
Fast, tall, not a dribbler or particularly skilful with the ball but keeps it simple (which is fine for us as we have an entire team passing, moving and rotating in order to push the opposition back) and can finish the high quality chances created in the box.
Problem is, there aren’t too many of that type around atm, so its to the managements credit that they were willing to make such a left field signing in Zivkovic. If this signing comes off he could be worth his weight in gold.
