No guarantees, but talks are progressing well. The fact Naysmith has said he wants to remain at SUFC have helped.

If he stays, it will be big bonus for us next season, as LB has been a bit of a problem area for us.

If I'm honest, he's been very unlucky with his injury, but I feel he owes us at least a season here as we've been paying his wages the last 18 months or however long it's been.

Come on Gary, do the right thing.

In one of my very rare replies I would agree that it would be excellent news if Naysmith stays. However I'm more intrigued with you thinking he has been out for 18 months, exactly what Blackwell said after Saturdays game. In fact he was injured against Burnley, give or take a day, a year ago. Symtomatic of Blackwells exaggerated excuse making post match comments throughout the season.

I am more intrigued as to Naysmiths real intentions to sign a new deal, given SUFCs "luck" and Blackwells "luck" this season with injuries, wouldn`t it be more prudent to let him prove his fitness, or are we going to push our "luck" again

I agree his fitness must be proven before agreeing to any deal. However, surely the reserve team outings and the 70 minute first team run-out has gone some way to showing that.

Wasn't he fit some months back and got the usual knock on effect injury that players usually experience after an initial serious long term injury?

One would hope the club know what they are doing. Then again..............................

After earning almost £1M of our money whilst sat on his arse for the last year, you might argue it's the least we could expect?

A relatively decent championship left back worth about 4K per week - let's hope he meant cut with a capital C.

I'm sure he didn't want to get injured. It's not the same as a player taking a huge contract then not putting the effort in and being happy to rot in the reserves.
