As much as we held our own tonight, and thats fair credit to the team, I think we miss the creative link play that McGoldrick offers.
Hope he returns soon.
Have you?Gone to villa
I miss goals. Goals is what I miss.
Is that a direct quote from McGoldrick?I miss goals. Goals is what I miss.
Thought Fleck was poor tonight but could have something to do with City having better players. We tried to bridge the gulf but they have quality in abundance after spending a billion or so on the squad under pep. We have the strategy but we are still short of. Quality but to be fair so are the majority of teams who face City
They've destroyed far more established teams than us
Thought city putting 2 holding midfielder s on them stopped us going through the middle hence why we were direct. Having said that the best chances we had in the game were from us playing it around. The chance in 1st half when sharps cross got that slight deflection, so close! Mcburnie would have surely had a tap inMaybe I saw a different game but in possession we had zero composure and were under par again. We tended to go direct/ long balls too much.
Agree...we don’t look as higher quality in possession without McGoldrick.....although I thought McBurnies allround gsme was excellent last night.
You could see the Man City defenders didn’t like playing against McBurnie.....Sharp put in a good shift too.
We were excellent out of possession and our work rate was impressive again...so can’t complain too much.
Maybe it was Man City instant pressing but with the ball we always looked rushed and under pressure.
Agree with most of what you say, but any judgement on our performance has to be measured against the standard we were up against.Maybe I saw a different game but in possession we had zero composure and were under par again. We tended to go direct/ long balls too much.

I only meant less effective by the standard he's set himself. He was rusjed into a lot of poor passes. The fact is he's great v 90 per cent of the prem but against Liverpool and man city he's a fraction behind. But they embarrass a lot more. By a bigger gulfI wouldn't describe the performance of any of the players as "poor" - although Basham had one of his "wacky" games. (Kicking it, heading it, all over the place, just doing barmy things in general, like his brain isn't connected to his feet or the rest of his body). Still love him to bits though - but he's scary when he's like that.
I thought Fleck was really good tbh - maybe not his best game ever for us - but considering he and all of them are up against some of world's best players - I thought he did really well. As an example, did you see the one in the second half where Fleck got the ball and burst through two of them and was eventually hauled down? It's all about opinions of course, but I agree with the point you make about quality. IF we were able to add 2 or 3 players with a bit of special quality then I think we'd be even higher up the table. I don't see that happening in January though - let's see what summer brings.
Very true pal. To be expected of course. But at least it shows us what level we need to be aiming for.I only meant less effective by the standard he's set himself. I don't know what the injury situation is with mcgoldrick but we are missing him so much, although the defensive organisation is still terrific we have lost so much flair and fluidity going forward since his absence, not only do we need him back asap but a suitable replacement must be top of Wilders summer wish list
To play that you would have to drop one of the midfielders who started Saturday, which isnt going to happen, or play 1 up frontMaybe we need to go back to our old formation and play a CAM.

Who said the flat 3 isnt working?Yeah, that flat 3 really hasn't worked for us this season.
McGoldrick plays almost like a 10 behind a main 9 anyway out of necessity.
