what a week. I've been trying to put my thoughts of this transfer window down on paper but i can't. We've signed one of the hottest prospects in Europe, and another couple of highly rated youngsters into the bargain.

OK fair enough. Given that we're Sheff United, we'll probably now go and lose right?

No.

OK then, we'll take a point away from home yeah?

No.

What a week. Beyond anything I've ever dared to dream of as a blade. I've been going for 25 years and this week is almost just too much.

What a time to be alive 😁😁😁

Agree it’s fantastic.

The only negative is that our system of play without McGoldrick seems to be low possession with fast direct long ball counter attacking.
The Palace fans weren’t that impressed with us and I can see why based on our performance up to us scoring.

Compare third to before Xmas when McGoldrick was playing.
We controlled the game for 80 minutes dominating against Spurs away at WHL.
We controlled the game and dominated the 1st half away at Wolves too.
Both sets of fans acknowledged we are a really good team and both were happy to gain a draw against us.
With McGoldrick playing we have more possession with midfield linking better with attack...our passing is slicker and we look a classy side.

Suspect Wilder will already be working on our system/ style for next season.

Good post mate & I am sure many of us share your thoughts, as do I. This transfer window has left me feeling confused, excited & impatient to see more, okay we didn't perform at our best today but that one thing that CW demands of his players, 100% effort, allied to fantastic organisation & team spirit, ensures we are always in any game all the way to the end, I am sure these qualities are in our opponents heads & give us a psychological edge. Hard to believe this journey we are on has only just begun, & I think we will grow even more when the new players are fully integrated into the squad.

It’s all about the points now, firstly to get us over the line as quickly as possible, then to finish as high as we possibly can. At times that will probably necessitate playing good football but at other times we’ll have to grind out points. Hodgson is one of those managers who sets out to stop the other team from playing and was largely successful at that.

I just posted the exact same thing on Deadbat's march report thread. We're not a good side to watch without McGoldrick. Effective, yes. But all of the innovative, overloading tactics go out of the window & we become the direct, hardworking, physical side people accuse us of being. Nothing wrong with that whilst we continue grinding out the results, but I miss McGoldrick's influence & hope our long term planning involves a successor to his role.
