I was also told that by the chief exec at a Championship club. Basic salary plus add ons. Crazy.
I guess if he helps them stay up he’ll be worth it. It’s a big if though.

Sander Berge every day of the week, going to be a top footballer and he is the sort of bloke who every father wants his daughter to bring home too.

Agreed but this guy has real pedigree, much more than anybody else we've ever bought (yeah we can talk about how players turned out but we've never bought one who's doing it and is on the up before).
Sabella?

Berge wasn’t keen on joining a relegation threatened team, whereas Bowen has been based in Hull.
why do you ask?

What has really struck me about our transfer business compared to other clubs. We aren’t buying just to solve a problem. Our proactive approach is very much in contrast to the likes of West Ham and Man Utd.

Good call, I was trying to think before I posted and nothing would come to me. Can't be many others if any...
Edit: Maybe I was swayed by what he became but he did put the performances in from day 1.

Nope Sabella had done next to nothing when we signed him
I put it as a question. Is there much difference between a squad member (coming on from the bench) of the best team in South America and member of the initial 40-man squad drawn up for the Argentina World Cup winning team, and a regular for Genk who has played (and lost) in the group stage of the Champions League, and plays for Norway? I am not belittling Berge, and there is a good chance that he will be more successful than Sabella (because our current set-up is much stronger), but the sense of excitement caused by Sabella's signing was probably greater. And it was just a pity that we didn't get Ardiles or Maradona (who had not achieved anything by then).
