Saw an interesting point regarding Besic on the back of The Stir of all places yesterday (stopped clock right twice a day and all that); his loan is locked in, so cant be recalled. So we are not making any moves until summer. Makes 100% sense; we get to assess him close up for another 4/5 months; he’ll be another season down on his Everton contract; we can tap him up easily; and we’ll know what pond we’re fishing in for next season.
His contract expires in May/June this year doesn't it?

Either he's overweight or he's thinking the transfer over with his family...

I don’t pay a lot of attention to the views of ordinary fans regards other players.
Most of them know next to sod all about football having never been near the operations of a professional club, had any real insight into coaching or tactics or knowledge of what plans managers or teams have for certain players.

you only have to see a few remarks made about many of our players like Fleck, Egan, JOC to name a few.

Opinions can be debated however, but I prefer to stick with what I see myself

Watching the footgae of Berge he seems very apt at running from deep past players and can turn defence into an nattack. I've always thought Fleck is excellant at that too. Berge seems to be very apt at tacking also and presumably at 6.5ft tall is decent in the air! I wonder if Berge could also play the Bash role? Of course Bash came in as a centre mid when first signed also.

Just a thought. Seems that if he signs we might have to wait a little to see him play as Genk want him back on loan, which is a shame but if we get him over other clubs that want him now then that'll be worth it.

That report.....the latest from Belgium says

Sander Berge considers transfer to Sheffield United with his family

There is a realistic chance that Sander Berge (21) RC Genk will leave this week. Sheffield United have made a concrete offer and if it raises its bid of 20 million euros and agrees to a percentage on a subsequent resale for Genk, a departure is possible. In he leaves this week then RC Genk might even break Youri Tielemans' Belgian transfer record of 25 million euros.

The preferred/ ideal scenario for Genk, is that Berge will remain as their player until next summer and not, as Pozuelo leaves early last year. In view of the European Championships – if Norway gets through the jump-offs (think they mean play-offs) – it is also better for the player to be playing regular football. If Sheffield wish to sign him but loan him back until June, the transfer price would become slightly lower.

All parties are now taking a moment to consider the options. Berge's family has already travelled to Belgium to discuss his future.

The chances are still real that Sander Berge (21) RC Genk will leave this week. The ideal scenario for the Limburgers, however, is that Berge will remain in the Luminus Arena until next summer and not, as Pozuelo leaves early last year. In view of the European Championships – if Norway gets through the jump-offs – it is also better to be sure of playing minutes. If Sheffield wants to take him over and leave it in Genk until June, the transfer price could be slightly lower.

Can't wait to see the "jump-offs".

He sounds like a defensive midfielder who can run out with the ball and a decent passer.
It seems Wilder tactics are to keep the defensive base that has served us so well.....we have the 2nd best defence in the PL.
Norwood is great at passing but can’t run with the ball. It looks like Berge can break forward with the ball giving us a new dimension.
Suspect he’ll also be good attacking and defending corners and help us with set pieces.

Question, are we in need of a central midfielder at the expense of the sale of a striker this window? I think we all thought the priority was another striker this window but looks like we're going to be one down. We get one injury and Leon is back again as he likes two options.

We can all stop getting excited and put down our tissues, the almighty has spoken...

Or maybe Alan's main source - let's call him Richard - doesn't work at the club anymore and therefore he has absolutely no idea what Chris Wilder's budget is.

You got any links to all the Belgium media hype maninblack?

In today's edition of Het Laatste Nieuws:

So basically the lad wants to leave, Genk are prepared to sell him but they want him to stay here, on loan, for the rest of the season.

If he’s as good as all that, why is he playing in Belgium ?

Maybe because they signed a promising 19 year old youngster and have helped develop his career by enabling him to play top flight football, in addition to Champions League football.

It's not like he's spent 10years there. He's 22.

They will also lower the price if we agree to a loan back
and the other issue is Genk want a sell on clause just in case we sell him on for mega millions....so the % sell on still needs agreeing.

Genk won the league last season but this season they‘ve underperformed badly
They are currently sitting in 6th place, well behind the leading teams and only have an outside chance of Europe too.
Suspect Berge is more likely to prefer to leave now that his team are struggling.

Some players are literally too good to waste in defence. Berge is one of them.

Good old biggsy.. Clueless as always xD
I know who I believe more out of Giddings (well linked, seems to be good mates with Wilder, radio Sheffield) and Biggs (not well linked, seems no more than amicable with Wilder, independent, knows fuck all)
