During the Sky broadcast a graphic came up showing it was Basham’s 250th start. More proof that you however decided last week was his 250th game can’t count...

What a player he’s been for us, like someone eluded to earlier the absolute epitome of our clubs and what we are all about.

He is undoubtably a club legend and hopefully will always be a regular at the Lane when he hangs up his boots.

He's a joy.. Thought he'd be the one, who would fall short(est!) in the Prem..Stupid me, he's been superb. 2nd best Chris at the Lane. Love him.. UTB

Heart of a lion, body of a paper-clip. But it works! Well done Bash!👍
I like the analogy of paper-clip made me smile, as United used to have a Hairpin. Albert Sturgess whom I first heard of from my grandad who saw him play. England International, 1915 FA Cup Winner with 512 apps. for blades, could play all 5 defensive positions coupled with stand in goalkeeper and United's oldest player appearance. Like Bash, 110% effort with 98% reliability and great servant to the club.
Looked the stats up but known of the man some seventy plus seasons now thanks to mi' grandad who's, after a Blades loss, step was never as spritely or clipped as when they had won.

This reminded me of a barber on Gower Street called Charles Blades. Charlie's shop was started by his father who was a passionate Blade. Haircuts were always a bit more severe and you never asked for a shave if we had lost as he did it in three strokes with a cut throat. Well done Basham, the man with a 50p head when it comes to attacking corners. A true stalwart.

When we were promoted away at Northampton a couple of my mates bumped into him on the pitch afterwards.

They asked for a picture and then after they all shook his hand and thanked him for his efforts in our promotion and told him how much is all meant to the fans.

Bash got all choked up and a bit teary and replied something along the lines of ‘you don’t know how much it means to me, love this club’

absolute legend.

out of this amazing squad he’s probably the one that won’t move on in time for more money etc... not because he doesn’t deserve it but because he’s a bit older than some of the others. He’ll be the one I have fondest memories of I think. Bash and Billy.

Or a threep'ney bit head in my day, believe it had more edges.
