Besic

Impressive again. After he came on we began to boss it in midfield and kept turning over the ball and creating breaks.

I would love to sign him but get an inkling he either doesn't want to come or we can;t afford him.

And me, Lunny has been poor for a while now, he looks fooked all the time and has forgot how to pass to a team mate. Them lung busting runs into the opposition box have gone.

He hasn't looked the same since he picked up that injury.

Besic has looked good but very unlikely to start as he exposes what for me is Wilder’s sight chink in his armour .... loyalty to his starting 11...(although you could rightly argue results show there is no chink at all)

Would love to get Mo on a permanent deal. Been more and more impressed every time I see him. The first couple of times I saw him, and maybe this was via instruction from CWAK, he held a predominantly defensive position, but one factor of his game that I don't think get the credit is deserves is his ability to break the lines and push into the final third with attacking intent. Technically, he's great, he's strong, quick, has that little bit of bite, love to see him do his little bent over stalking when defending and he really looks impressive at finding little pockets of space to then advance from. Biggest compliment I can give him - he's Fleck like.

Can't believe
A ) he didn't start yesterday
B ) we aren't trying to sign him to at least open up a loan spot
C ) both of the above
I think we’ll sign him and I think he’ll start on Tuesday. My favourite part about Fleck’s goal yesterday was how Besic turned the defender inside out and then laid the pass off to Robinson right at the start of the move.

Think he will be ahead of Lunny for Citeeh game

It’s perfect game for him isn’t it, he will have a blinder and keep his place.. Lundstram has done enough to not be forgotten but in that position it’s difficult to fight your way in, so once he’s out he’s out until Besic gets inevitably sent off 😂

I think he will and should start Tuesday, as for signing think that might depend on fee and wages , can’t see him being less than 10 mill to be honest

Mo needs to be starting games now. Lunny has done ever so well this season but this form has dipped a bit since Christmas.

Showed nice touch and composure in the build up to yesterday's goal. Like a player's who's approaching match fitness.

Is'nt his contract up at Everton in June? If so we can sign him for free. If this is the case that would be a blinding bit of CW business.

Mark Duffy, Jake Wright, Billy Sharp, Richard Stearman and even Leon would suggest to me that he’s loyal while he needs to be. Once the time is right to move on and the alternate is ready then he makes the change. I have no reason to see this as being any different and I think it’ll happen soon. However I don’t necessarily think Lunny is done, just that he’s worn out and needs a break, which is exactly why you need a competitive squad.

This. All players managed by Wilder tend to remark how he is ruthless when needed.

Besic has earned a start, no doubt. If my memory is correct, I think I recently read that Lunny was second only to Bash, in terms of amount of ground covered per game.

Lunny needs a game or two on the bench, recharge his batteries and fight his way back in. The one thing Lunny has, that so far Besic hasn't, is goals in his locker.

If we can get a decent deal on the table for Besic, it's a no brainer (for me, at least).

If he plays blinders we pay more
hence the holding back

Totally agree.....there’s a method to the madness of not giving players a start.

The other clever thing is that Wilder tends not to over rely on a single player.....we have no Zaha...no Grealish.
Every player knows they are close to becoming just back up players.....the back up players know they have a chance of becoming first teamers.

This strengthens our hand regards contract negotiations....no player is indispensable.
The Mark Duffy situation is an example to all players....and shows what can happen to their careers if they play hardball.
Wouldnt surprise me that if Lunny does leave then his career could really stall.
Besic‘s career had already stalled and we are offering him a potential lifeline....again it strengthens our bargaining position.

I wouldn’t disagree. It’s one of those you could argue either way.Personally I think Lunny has been tired for 3 games now and Besic looks ready and chomping at the bit. However, we only see 90 minutes of them. It’s also nice to see Wilder making tactical changes earlier in games then at the start of the season.

That bent over stance is reminiscent of the late great Trevor Hockey!
