Worst Signing Blades made in January?

Can someone list them all please? It's hard to find out which of the dross were January and which were Summer.

That goal v pigs was excellent, I remember it fondly. Derby away 1-0 with Akinbiyi scoring, so that's his transfer fee well covered.
Aye.

3 goals at £600k a pop, when £600k was a lot, represents superb vfm.

Not 👎.

The Pig goal gave us 3 points instead of 1.

The Derby goal ditto

The QPR goal ditto.

Arguably he got us 6 points we otherwise wouldn't have had, (especially the Pig worldy) and this was by the end of Feb.

It is true we finished 11 points ahead of 3rd place but without those 3 wins we may well have had the usual Warnock wobble in March/April.

If I were you I'd concentrate on the pissing contests you stand a minimal chance of winning now, rather than history from 14 years ago.

Not sure if all were signed in the JTW but:

Luton Shelton
Ahmed Fahti
David Carney

Honorable mention to Dean Hammond, the shittest player to ever pull on the famous red and white stripes.

Aye, he were quite the enigma. Could look class and composed all game then drop an almighty bollock.

I always find it a little odd that Davis is on a list of bad signings when we probably would have stayed up had he started in that Wigan game. Indeed, I thought that had been one of the main post-match criticisms of the lineup Warnock went with that day given how all the defence struggled with the likes of Heskey and McCulloch. Our best pairing was him and Jags that season, and we opted for neither in the middle that afternoon.

He had an occasional clanger in him, but when he was on it he did very well for us that season. We also, unlike a Horsfield or Akinbiyi, got back what we paid for him.

Can't put a name to the face

It’s Barry Fucking Robson

Technically he cost us £1m - bought for £1.75m and sold for £750k so it's £333k/goal which is still miles better than Geoff Horsfield who cost us about the same per minute on the pitch. Or Luton Shelton, £700k per league goal (bought for £1.7m, sold for £1m).

Warnock had a reasonable success rate given the ponds he was fishing in but his big-money buys were, in the main, dreadful.

Worst January buys XI for me (2005/06 on, excluding loans):

Howard
Brayford Seck Higginbotham Williams
Robson Evans Howard
Bent Beattie Horsfield

Claude was OK, just a bit ‘stabby’.

In terms of excitement/expectation vs. actual output for one transfer window I don't think those 4 can be beaten can they? Bought to kick us on to promotion in the Prem. and we ended up sliding down the table.

We made a profit on Evans and Leonard so I don't think either can be viewed as that bad. Wilson was only a loan. Holmes was the only one that I think can be seen as plain bad. You're probably right in terms of how dull they were but I wouldn't put them anywhere near the top of the list in terms of some of the truly awful signings we've wasted big money on or who have been actively terrible on the pitch.

Glad to see that you are so emotionally engaged in something that, bluntly, isn’t your concern !

Thanks all the same 😀.

anyone who scores in a winning derby is fine by me

i agree BushBlade we spend money on andy Reid we wouldnt have got relegated. did more in a month than many players have done in a year on but then not being in league 1 would another team get wilder
Case.

In this case, it wasn’t so much about spending money, bloody Ollie came in for him as a replacement for Adam, then barely played him. I think otherwise we’d have either extended his loan or signed him permanently.

You’ve got those blinkers on you keep banging on about and you’re not seeing the bigger picture my friend.

3 goals towards promotion to the PL, 2 of which were winners seem a decent investment to me. Would you agree? If only we’d have capitalised and actually stayed up.

If the bigger picture is signing the likes of Akin, 3 goals, Hanson, 1 goal and Madine, 2 goals and you’re opinion is that this is a significant contribution towards “getting over the line”, then I am perfectly happy with my perfectly blinkered view !

Sorry, I thought this was a public forum for Blades.

I understand now it is your private fiefdom and you only argue with 'approved' posters.

Bluntly, you are incorrect again.

Lay down on the virtual couch and tell us all about the 6ft plus striker who used to call you names at school and stole your dinner money. If you get it off your chest now then you might be able to get over it and start enjoying watching the team you support (there is no smiley for a shrink or I'd have placed one here).

If only you knew 😀👍.
