Basham's Rant

We play our back up players but, unlike many other teams, most of our back up players don’t seem to give a toss that they have been given an opportunity to impress and don’t perform. This has been the case in the last few cup games which I think is a major contributor to the small crowds.
Yes, the reserve team puts me off. But the complete absence of any atmosphere whatsoever also puts me off.

Well i heard this....

Aye. I'd gan back to school. But first I'd take out the labs and then I'd type into the attack computer 'Mr Cragg, chemistry teacher'. Blow 'im to bits. And then I'd go looking for Tom Donaldson. I'd be hovering just down the road from his house, there. And he'd see us, but I'd duck down behind the trees, and he thinks he's safe, right? And he's just about to put the key in his front door, and I come up from behind the hedge, 'Hello, you bastard.' He panics, right? And he goes in the house, so I get the 30-millimetre canon and I take out the fish pond, coy carp in there couple of rounds each, right? And then I just tilt the helicopter over to one side and the machine-gun bullets is chewing up the drive, right? He comes out. 'Oh no! Not me Triumph Stag! I've just had it resprayed!' I cut it right in half, right? And then he goes, 'Ahhh!' He runs up on to the garage roof. I say, 'Right. This is for you, Tom.' He goes, 'No, no!' He's begging us, he's begging us man, 'No, please don't!' And then I fly off to Cornwall and I just smash in the sea in a big ball of flames

You’ve gone again

It's strange that no one else witnessed this incident apart from the OP. Maybe I'm thinking this because I watched yesterday's Dr Who, but could something so awful have happened involving Basham that the Bramall Lane authorities erased it from our collective memories, but somehow the OP has retained some memory of this event?

I am starting to get a bit weirded out by it and I definitely didn't imagine it.

The only reason I brought it up is because it is normal to see players have a go at each other from time to time, but Bash was going red in the face and I could hear him from the other side of the ground. The other player (I can't remember who, I think it was Morrison or Clarke), said something back and Bash went even more mental.

That was Roxanne, by the Police or as they’re now known, Sting. A song there about a prostitute. Doesn’t say what her surname is. Must give her a call sometime. Although the effects of 23 years on the game, would not render her pleasurable to mine eye.

I didn't expect this to turn into an Alan Partridge fans seminar, but I'm not complaining.

Just about every line of every episode is quotable. Pure comedy gold.

My wife and I constantly quote "Monkey Tennis" when we flick through the TV guide and find either a God awful sounding programme, or nothing else on.

Our other commonly quoted one is "He thinks he's Rod Stewart!"
The boys are back in the barracks😂

That’s just noise that....

In all his time with the club, Chris Basham must be just about the most underrated player to put on a Blades shirt in recent years. Every Blade seems to have an instant Chris Basham replacement in mind, with many still thinking he’s weak link of our first team (yeah really). His love for the club is tangible and his willingness to play anywhere in the team has unfortunately given him the “utility player” tag. But when he came onto the field on Sunday he instantly looked like a man playing in a boys team, he was so composed, oozed class and looked every bit the Premier league player he actually is.......My favourite player.

Couldn't agree more. Though in reflection, when he first arrived, he was another 'Bobby Shitbollocks'/'who-the-fuck-is-he?/Google/Wikipedia and his first game (think he was playing centre back in a back four for Clough's outfit in a pre-season friendly against some or other team) and looked worse than Collins or McEveley. He was all over the shop. And he was subbed in that Higdon defeat v Brizzle City. It goes to show what a diamond in the rough he was and was basically a hidden talent surrounded by dogshit for too long. Look at him now and how he has developed - face it, he joined us on a free at 25 which is usually well into a player's career. Now I think he is one of our best players and has a status equivalent with Chris Morgan or Eddie Colquoun, although he isn't as combative as either of those two and is far more subtle.

With great shame I have to admit I had him pigeonholed as a new Bob Booker figure (All heart, limited talent)
But my view on him was very much like the Prems lazy assessment of SUFC, I am absolutely delighted to be proved wrong (time and time again) about Chris Basham.

In that case I think Bash probably used the word "lazy" in their direction. They probably replied "Shurrup you dozy mackem twat" or something like that. And that's why he got even angrier. I don't know for certain, as I wasn't there, but I'm just trying to be helpful to solve this mystery seeing as no one else seems to know about it.
