"A warm glow of affection for Kevin Blackwell was not a typical feeling for me during his two and a bit seasons as Leeds United's manager. Granted, he had a difficult job, but his preference for experienced and farcically slow players over youth team graduates of the calibre of Aaron Lennon and Matthew Kilgallon, and his "the summer I took over, there was just me, the tea lady and Gary Kelly" schtick eventually eroded any gratitude I held for him ..."

I think 'lorimerhotshot' post sums up everything nicely.
Disaster seems to follow Blackwell around.

I like Bagchi, for a Dirty Leeds Bastard.

He has nothing on Marina Hyde though

Bear in mind that ALL managers, (with the possible exceptions of Ferguson, Wenger and Dario Gradi) eventually end up failing to meet expectations and get fired. It is the nature of the job.

Like politicians, if 51% of the supporters think you are doing a decent job, then that is success. Having another know-nowt journo writing about it as though being a football manager and also being disliked is any kind of surprise should have the old bullshit sensors jumping...

Take Fabio Capello for example. Won la Liga twice with Real Madrid, who after his second spell promptly sacked him for not winning it nicely.

Fucked if you do, fucked if you don't.

At least Capello did actually win something Blackwell hasn't even won bugger all!
