But to believe that is to underestimate the quality of the man and the players and staff he’s assembled around him.

I’d say there are far more admirers than critics. But his success will put others under the microscope for achieving less with more.

Good post Ceb but also misses the point I'm afraid.

The o.p. is about the P.L. managers and how Wilder shows most of them up for what they are: charlottans who are lazy and spend massive budgets on players they have hardly seen. P.R men, front men, not that he is knowledgeable about English football. They do their thing anywhere and everywhere in Europe/ the World.

They struggle to communicate in English and therefore sign plenty of poor value foreign players, in other words create a bigger comfort zone. Just imagine Pellagrini addressing our team on match day,

What is it about the o.p. some cannot understand?

Speaks English football, you know he's a 'football man' with a thorough experience in the domestic game and he talks in English, which so many P.L.managers struggle with.

What exactly are you suggesting? That foreign premier league managers are literally unwelcoming? I thought Wilder himself spoke about having a beer with Klopp?

Pundits and other fans are queuing up to talk about us as a welcome success story this season. That runs contrary to your thread title (directly), and more generally the thrust of your message.

It is Christmas Eve though I guess, we've all had a beer (or two, three etc.) so I'd prefer to end my response with a 'Merry Christmas fellow Blade' and leave it at that.

In a nutshell, simply that certain foreign managers are being shown up by Wilder and that his type of management discomforts them abd so it should. Klopp is not one of those.

That is what the o.p. was intended to say, no more no less.

The title was worded to attract attention and some didn't read further than that.
 
Not sure that any other manager or DoF (as they seem to be the ones responsible for buying the players more and more nowadays) really have CW on their radar.

Don't recall Prem managers making Wenger unwelcome when he came and started being successful using cheap young French players?

The suggestion is not a question of anybody making our man unwelcome face to face. It's in their cosy, leather, contemporary offices they will be squirming in their seats and sitting less comfortably because our man is achieving 3 times more on a third of the budget. They will not welcome the erosion of the foreign manager gravy train.

That's the point F.G.S.
 
Wilder is a one off. Built his reputation through every level of English football, won everywhere he's been and ended up managing his home town club. I don't see what other managers have to be afraid of? There aren't a queue of Wilders looking to take their jobs

Much more likely to be squirming due to their own form and results rather than other managers faring better. I doubt the Norwich manager has a pinned wax doll of Wilder because he’s English and doing better. Or any other clubs manager.

Posts 2 & 8 sum it up. As you said, “for attention” (and little more) Fanciful at best, the IQ comments show it’s about your ego.

You've moaned about people not responding in a courteous manner, yet when I tried you've responded similarly. Very disappointing, and duly noted.

The misconception you have regards your own intelligence is staggering and laughable.

Not sure I can quite agree with this one. There are certainly some mercenary managers in the PL but there are also some (British and foreign) managers who seem serious, hard-working, and conscientious: Klopp, Guardiola, Rodgers, Dyche, Howe, Potter, and others. I think Wilder is in a class of his own but I can imagine him connecting with them and think they’re probably clever enough to respect the job he’s doing.

No need for the negativity in this thread, today of all days. Merry Christmas, Woody and all the rest of you Blades.
