Brighton fan here. Great performance from you guys yesterday. Ignore the pre match idiotic comments from a few of our fans - always get them on any message board - the vast majority knew we were in for a tough afternoon. The atmosphere at the Amex is usually pretty decent but I think most were stunned into silence at how badly you made us play, especially considering how well we've played this season (albeit not quite getting the results due to poor finishing). Post match on the trains and in the pubs everyone full of praise for your performance - most in agreement the best performance at the Amex this season - whilst bemoaning how much we were rattled. A lot of your fans hung around in the pubs - a lot of good natured chat etc.

Enjoy the ride, it's nice to see someone new doing well up the top of the table. Do you reckon you can keep it up and reach europe?

We still can’t shake off the Wimbledon ball over the top comparison (probably was not at the match) but overall a good set of raised eyebrow reviews- the fairest of the season so far.

Nice stuff Weird one.

Generally very positive, usual guff and a couple of digs at the Rusties. All in all a very festive offering!

PS Are we the bollocks or what?

We are Lord SEB, we are....and it's official. we have the Brighton seal of approval, we're the fifth best side in the country. A few sour and bitter comments won't detract from the overall, and objective view that we're a far, far better side than many who'll face Brighton this season.....loved how they referred to our forwards as 'beasts', enthusiastic yes, but beasts, never..........they sound like a generally decent bunch who recognise quality when they see it.

We've been through pretty rough times in recent history and still pretty new to this top division lark - maybe we've not developed much Premier League arrogance just yet! Probably also helps that we have a healthy dislike of your neighbours since the playoff semi defeat a few years back. Their fans were very different to yours yesterday on the whole, pre and post match both games (and for league games too).

Hi Mate,

Not sure about Europe, we get travel sickness visiting you lot ;) but what you saw yesterday is how we've played since Wilder took control.

We're pretty grounded, and as you say, we all have a few who talk bollocks, but this is the best I've seen of a Blades side in the last 50 years.

Thanks for your kind and insightful comments......we hate Garth Crooks who thinks we're dull and ordinary, but Jenas, Savage, Souness all agree, we play exceptional football on a consistent basis. Of course we all have days when things don't click, but we're delighted with the team and manager, he's top drawer and we are what we are because of his hard work. UTMB

You did your homework against us better than anyone else this season (or executed your plan better at least). Most of us have been saying the same as you. Best they've ever seen us play in a lot of games this season. Potter has transformed us so quickly into a really attacking, dynamic team, with work to do in certain areas though. Yesterday felt like last season again. Fell apart so easily and had no answers. First time that's happened this season for a full 90 mins.

Funny how none of our players would get into their team. We must be crap and we just can't see it!!!

Firstly, as a Brighton fan, thanks for letting me post here. As many have stated you were definitely the better side and deserved the win. Before the game I reckoned it was a hard one to call and my prediction was a 1-0 job to either side - got the wrong side though!

I would like to say what a pleasure it was to chat, and have a bit of banter, with many Blades fans before and after the game. In particular two cracking lads called Brian and Paul who I met in the Lord Nelson before the match. As I intend to make it for the return game in February they gave me list of pubs to visit when we play at your gaff - I’m looking forward to the cheaper prices!

When I do make the trip would you please make sure the weather is is okay and not like the last time I visited Bramall Lane. That was January 1987 for an FA Cup tie and it was f-f-freezing - the coldest I’ve ever been at a match. If memory serves me well by halftime the pitch had frozen and the second half consisted of just passing the ball around the centre circle. It ended 0-0 and we decided to let you win the replay 2-1.

Anyway, well played yesterday and great to see you in the top six - you never know, we might join you come May next year!

It was crystal clear that Utd already rocked a jelly suspension pimped up ride from hell, and thus were more PL ready than Boris’ oven ready (never a palatable option) brexit. Wilder is a wiley fox like manager, with a work ethic matched only by his manic charges. Indeed he made our own, our very own humble Potter look akin to that mis-guided fool of a farmer Bean, left turning to Bolger and Bean for tactical advice – alas; doomed from the start, of a stark and strangely familiar narrative. Blades for Europe? – I think we might be seeing a lesser miracle, in the age of the undoing of the ‘big six.'”

I see Stuart Hall is keeping his finger in since getting released. No pun intended, obviously...

Great to have sensible comments from fans of other teams. You are welcome on here pal.

Which pub did they recommend? I hope it wasn’t Dempseys.

Question for Nobbygull and BHA39 ...

Whenever I see Brighton on the tele I like to think there’s a box at the Amex, probably with tinted windows, within which Des Lynam is lying on chaise longue in his smoking jacket. Most probably warming a fine brandy, served to him by an olive skinned beauty.

Please tell me my hunch is accurate?

“The fact that Chris Wilder can get results in the Premier League using the likes of Luke Freeman and David McGoldrick speaks very highly of him, but I just get the feeling that, when one or two teams work them out and give them a stuffing, others will quickly follow the example.”

I would have thought these Premier League sides would have "worked us out" by now, seeing as we've nearly halfway through the season.

They're in a heavy weight title fight and none of them have either trained for that or have the desire to go toe to toe with us.

No way will we drop off.

Exactly what I was thinking until the inevitable few negative, bitter comments towards the end.
“Not one of their players would get in our 11”.....now where have I heard that before?!? 🤔
That's because the longer each season goes the number of clubs who can afford our players and are ahead of us keep's getting smaller and smaller till today and that number is now FOUR!! 😂

Brilliant read that Roy, have a fantastic XMas. Here’s one to add I’ve just seen..

“I thought in the second half that Sheff United were bit like a park team chasing after the ball, and I expected at least a draw. Awful performance from the Albion. Pacy counter attack teams are going to hammer Sheff United. Fair result though”

So going on that comment and we’ve only got Man City left to play the first half of the season, there can’t be any pacy counter attack teams in the Premier League...

I sincerely wish that were true. Unfortunately smoking jackets are not permitted in the executive boxes as they contravene dress code regulations.

Newcastle... That's all they fucking had for most of the game

Dear Brighton fans, isn't reality a bitch, oh, and for those of you still living in delusionville, we're 5th for a reason, the very same reason your not!
Have a very merry Xmas, us Blades are!!!!

Cheers Roy!

Roygbiv, making opposition fans look stupid since 19--! 🤣

Woah! Easy tiger. Reality has been our bitch since the mid-1990s. I can’t be arsed to go into the history of it all, I’ll leave you to look it up - if you can be arsed. It’s a shame you’ve come up with such an ungracious post because the vast majority of Brighton fans have complemented your team after the game, both at the Amex and on the respective fans forums, on their achievements and on yesterday’s result. As with all forums you get your negative knobheads - take the rough with the smooth and all that.

Careful what you wish for, yes, you’re 5th and deservedly so. Just remember, football has a habit of biting you in the bum when you least expect it. A bit modesty in your case wouldn’t go amiss.

“They are very organised and cynical and can press or play on the break. Good side – but we chose today to have our biggest off day of the season” ✅
“The angering thing is that they’re really not very good.”✅
“We were abysmal first half. Second half we lacked the guile to break down a massed Championship level defence.”✅
“feel drained after watching that. I’m not sure one single Sheffield United player would get in our team but they were one of the most organised gritty teams I’ve ever seen. They won every 50/50 and we could not work any space against them. I think they’ll do well this season but not sure they’d be able to keep it up for years at this level.”✅
“Credit to United but they played Championship style and tactics .”✅
“They reminded me of Wimbledon, lots of balls over the top and the most cynical team i have seen since we’ve been in the premier league. Its effective though so you cant blame them, completely knocked us out of our stride.”✅
“I’ve seen them a few times this season and every time they’ve turned the match into a slug which is understandable with the players they’ve got. They rightly get a lot of plaudits for how they are doing as they are getting the most out of a limited playing squad. They play effective football.”✅
“It’s not pretty to watch as they turn every match into a horrible battle but it is extremely effective. I can’t see them sustaining it for more than this season though.”✅
“Let’s not try and justify that performance by pretending SU are some World force in football. They all played teir roles well but we were shockingly sh*t”✅
“I didn’t think Sheff U were amazing – certainly not the fifth best team in the country- but they did a job on Potter and the boys.”✅
“Totally done by tinpot United. Depressing”✅

Love it the same old cliché's and excuses that we have heard over a dozen times so far this season. I will let them off as there are far more intelligent comments than bitterness and one or two clearly have no liking for our MASSIVE neighbours
