Is it time for a change of formation for this one if they’re going to park the bus? Front two of McBurnie and Mousett/Sharp with Didsy behind and Norwood and Fleck in Midfield. Give Lundstrum a rest with usual back five. What are people’s thoughts? ⚔️
 



I’m not totally sure they will be parking the bus. They have Nigel Pearson now who has been involved in so many great escapes (Jimmy Glass/Carlisle, WBA great escape, Leicester the year before they won the league) and knows exactly what he’s doing. He will be targeting this game as a must win in their survival chances. This is not going to be the same game it was a few months ago.
 
Wouldn't be the worst idea for a few reasons.

Norwood managed to avoid a booking which means if he does so once more, then he's in the clear and though it is tempting to just go and defend vs City, a good set piece might be our avenue to get something.

I think they will sit back and defend on Boxing day, so having those three up front and Lunny and Fleck in behinds might help us.

Could be one where someone like Billy comes off the bench to sneak a late winner!
 
Not sure whether you watched Watford's game at Anfield but certainly didn't park the bus. In fact they were very attacking, created just as good, if not better, chances than Liverpool and really could should have got something from the game.

I'm sure CW will start with a flat 3 in mid as always and then change if needed. I'm sure McG could drop deeper to play the #10 role but would have thought Freeman would be more likely.

If they play against us like they did against Liverpool last week then I don't think you could call that "parking the bus". They should have been 2 up against Liverpool early in the game, if it wasn't for having strikers that specialise in "air-shots" that Leon Clarke would have been proud of!

I'm of the opinion that McBurnie and Mousset could, and probably should, emerge as our most potent strike pairing. I'm also of the opinion that McGoldrick is best deployed as a maker, rather than a taker (and I've been saying this for months, not just because of his incredible miss again yesterday). To accommodate that, there'd need to be a place created in midfield. It could not, or at least, should not, be Norwood, because he's the pivot of the entire team, and everything flows through him. After Norwood, I think Fleck is probably the most important midfielder as he has something good going on down that left-hand side with O'Connell and Stephens. The majority of our attacks come down the left-hand side and that's largely down to those three having a great understanding between them. The right hand side of the team isn't so effective - so you'd have to look to that side and make a call on whether you want to include McGoldrick in the midfield. The dilemma is that no one deserves to be dropped!

I know football managers love saying, "We take one game at a time" - but I don't believe them. I'm sure Chris will have noticed that we play Man City and Liverpool after Watford. If ever there was a time to make changes then the Watford game is probably it. Because we will want to preserve our strongest 11 for Man City a few days later.

I was just thinking that last night. Before trying to let it sink in. And then rocking back and forth guffawing like a Bond villain as the cat looked on in shock and awe before licking his arse and going back to sleep
 
After seeing their pace against us earlier in the season I’m concerned who’ll replace Bash! Jags may not be the answer for this one.
 
As already hit on, Watford won't park the bus. At this stage for them they have to go for wins.

Nope the 3 points at Watford are more important taking us within that safety target
We could make changes for Watford lose - play our strongest 11 at City get a thrashing and suddenly there’s a mini crisis
City n Liverpool away are both freebies
Watford is not

Almost as if they had an awareness that if they parked the bus they'd probably concede more than once anyway so may as well have a go
 



At there place they had the three best chances in the game to win it .. CW will not be taking these lightly. .. Watford need wins to have any chance of climbing out of the relegation places they won’t be coming to park the bus

Safety target? I think we can change our mentality now. You don't look down when you're reaching for the stars! Onwards and upwards Blades! UTB
 
I could genuinely see McGoldrick in that attacking midfield role. He tracks back very well and is pretty strong in the tackle. I just feel it would ease the pressure off him a bit as you can tell it’s getting to him. Just hoping he gets a goal soon he really does deserve it.

We all know what Shankly said about football being a simple game. CW will play his strongest line up. Like he always does. That’s the embodiment of taking one game at a time.

Totally agree. We will not see Watford as a pushover - they won't be!

This game has a far more realistic chance of getting any points than the next 2 fixtures.

Play your strongest possible first 11
