We've managed to acquire the very first garbage young player to emerge from Arsenal's academy.

I might not agree with lenners on most things, gievn I'm a "half-full" type of chap and he's more of a "glass broken and the fragments scattered to the four winds" fellow, but he's spot on here. Bartley is woeful.

Appalling. I only saw half a game ,so if he was twice as bad he is in the Steve Faulkener club.

Yeah, what a shit young kid that's come into a shit side with poor organisation and a different centre back partner each match and doesn't organise the defence.

Booooooo

I hope you guys aren't asking for a O'Driscoll type manager in the summer, you'll be no good with any youngsters coming through.

He played well the first few games he come here...
Has he turned shit with the training or was his first games just trying to impress???

Very clever to label to an 18 year old as "garbage" after one bad game.

*sigh*

I must have missed his 'good' games.
Care to recount them for me? Best pass he's made so far is the one to Bothroyd for Cardiff's goal the other night.
He's been dire.

No point getting pulled into the argument John with Len as the old adage goes, "never argue with an idiot they'll drag you to their level and beat you with experience".

He's had several decent matches just give this thread up as a lost cause but also the reason why someone like O'Driscoll should stay well away from United.

Hes awful ,why should he be beyond critisism ? He is a very wealthy young man with everything laid out for him playing crap for our football team ,we won't see him again in a few weeks ,he has no purpose for us.
Although he once played in a junior game up front so our clown of a manager thinks he can do a job for us ,what a fucking embarrassment Blackwell is to our club and football management in general.

Oh Bob, tell us all which Arsenal youngster O'Driscoll managed to acquire for his club and which one you'd prefer at the Lane.
It's not a crime to recognise when someone's crap Bob, whatever their age.

O'Driscoll got a forward we were looking for a centre half.

There is no way Wenger would allow a midfielder or Forward to come to us, we don't play the football he wants them to.

What has the money got to do with anything?

Do you think if he was a Port Vale reserve centre half on the minimum wage he would get the privelidge of playing for Sheffield United and everyone creaming themselves about him being the next Franz Beckenbaur ?

Thanks Bob, point made.

There's criticism, which can be helpful and interesting, then there's labelling someone "awful", which is neither.

Only time will tell, but will this kid end up playing in non-league, or will he end up in the top two divisions? My money's on the latter.

I don't think money has anything to do with it and I think he'll end up playing at a level about Sheffield United for most of his career.

He had a poor game, since his arrival he has also made a few mistakes which should be expected from young players. But he has also been thrown in with an ever changing back four and expected to just get on with it. Our fans in general don't seem to have the patience for young players because all will be inconsistent and have bad days.

Thanks Bob, point made.
You were saying he was garbage, nothing to do what position he plays nor Wenger not letting us have an attacking player.

What ever point has been made, it wasn't your original one.

Jonathan Forte's plying his trade in the top two divisions but he isn't good enough for United either.
I couldn't give a flying about Kyle Bartley's career, I only care about what he's doing now in a United shirt and he's doing f all apart from giving everyone kittens every time the ball goes near him.
He won't be playing for us ever again after the next few weeks and he's another example of shit management by the manager.
We knew all season we needed a centre half and Blackwell has miserably failed to deal with the problem.
The remarkable thing is that apparently we don't have someone on our own books who can do at least as well as Bartley. That's embarrassing.
Just how bad are our young players?

To be fair, Bartley started well and has being getting steadily worse from then on. That's the last time Wenger lends us anything...

You brought O'Driscoll into it and shot yourself in the foot as is your habit.

Ah I wonder if we are coming full circle to Len slagging off the investment in the academy again. Do you stand by that one Len, or have you going to claim you didn't moan about the academy?

Thanks for clearing up what you original post should of been. That Blackwell has failed to deal with the problem and getting a young talented but unproven centre half wasn't going to be the answer to a back four which changes every week.

To be fair I agree with you in a way ,our joke of a manager is making better and more experienced players than Barkley look mugs. This is probably why you shouldn't comment to soon after a game ,but the damage Blackwell is doing to our club is massive ,and very few people can't see it.
After laying out over £700 on Friday for season/Wendy/Newcastle tickets and faced with the option of this twat being in charge when there is nothing to play for ,I have not felt so much anger towards Utd for many years.

I don't understand how. You said our player was garbage, and then asked why we hadn't been loaned the forward that Donny had when we were looking for a centre half.

Keep digging son.

That should of been bad days, I don't know where bad data came from.

I agree about the manager and the football but I've consistently said you can't sack him while he can still deliver the playoffs. You can't act like that and expect new managers to want to come in. However the management situation now needs to be looked at if they are to stay with him or if he has been given enough chances.

I think you need to re-read. Can't help you any more than that.

To be fair to Flatulent Bob I think we did need a centre-back to play in the centre-back role, rather than a forward. So you can't blame Blackwell for borrowing a defender to defend.

Have you re-read that bit lenners?;)

Yup, I stand by what I said about the academy because I said it.
We've spent about £10m or more on it and we've paid for it by selling two players who we got about 40 or 50 games out of. Fantastic. It warms the cockles of my heart that instead of Walker or Naughton, we've got Connolly, Nosworthy, Bartley, Uncle Tom Cobley stumbling around.
This season, we've played well over 40 players and none of them have come from the youth set-up.
We're absolutely shite and yet we've got no-one who can do any better.
