When do you get to Sheffield Wednesday in this Premier League table of the decade?

They only just sneak into the milennium Tick follows tock follows tick. I've actually just thought of a good way of looking at this. If you were to opbserve earth from the nearest star apart form the sun, you would be seeing it as it was some 4.5 years ago given the distance and the speed of light.

Most of the lists I can find of 'nearest stars to earth' list about 50, none of which are anywhere near the distance at which our imaginary alien friends would have to be at if they wanted to see SWFC as a premier league team.

Researchers have apparently detected an Earth like planet planet orbiting one of Earth's nearest stars, a cool red dwarf called Gliese 581, 20 light years away in the constellation of Libra. A theoretical observer there would just be about to see them drop out of the Premier League for the last time. This is a distance of 117,394,272,000,000 miles. Now that number, my friends, is massive.
