With there win at Leicester they are 3 points behind us with 2 games in hand If Cardiff slip up again forget Blackpool, Middlesborough and Coventry. Reading could be the one that pipped us to 6th.

All the best to them!

But I don't care, rather just hold onto the glimer of hope for the Blades.

UTB!

I was looking at them creeping up the rails last night. If they win their two games in hand over everyone they will be 7th and in with a shout. Good luck to them because they've been on a remarkable run and have surprised me a lot as I thought they were a spent force.

The fact that they were 23rd at Christmas/New Year and are now breathing down United's neck is just shameful from our point of view.

Not shameful on our point of view really, because there are plenty of other teams around us that could or should be on a better points total as well. All I would say it highlights is how poor this season has been for the Championship as a whole not just ourselves.

We had a simlar discussion at work yesterday. It's invariably the team finishing with a rattle that takes the prize at Wembley.

Brian Howard back again eh !

Oh yes a big middle finger from Brian. You can be sure if they got in they'd take the prize and the nice big Cheque.

I'm just stunned and shocked that QPR aren't second yet.

Bugger me that optomistic. We will not be pipped for 6th, we will be some 5 or 6 points off.

Pipped for 6th implies that we will miss oout by a point, or GD. (IMHO)

Do you really want us to make the play-offs, with this team and this manager ?

All the people who want Blackwell out surely want this season to fizzle out like a damp squib. As far as he (and probably McCabe) is concerned, this season has been relatively successful given what he's had to put up with and the closer we get to the play-offs, the stronger the likelihood he'll stay.

I don't think we need to worry about being pipped, to be pipped would suggest that we're in with a chance....

Its a mathmatical chance and thats fading game by game

What sums this league is that mid season we dipped to 11th but since then have hovered between 6th and 9th. During that time we've picked up 22 pts from a possible 48 yet still remain with a chance of the play-offs. Just shows yet again that you don't have to be brilliant in this division (although it helps !) and consistency gets you in the play-offs or better.

We've scored 1 less goal than Forest, 21 more than Swansea. Just shows that it's the defensive side that's let us down this season and considering the changes, hardly surprising.

They still have to play West Brom, Newcastle and Cardiff. If they can beat them they deserve to get in the play-offs.
