My personal opinions but I certainly prefer the relentless coverage however I don’t like the kick off days and times, I preferred the championship because you got a couple more games out of the price of your season ticket but I’m happy to sacrifice that for PL football.
Not so long ago I used to tell anyone that’d listen that the premier league was shite and the championship was the best league in Europe and then I fully believe it was, now maybe it’s just because I’m in the land of milk and honey but the last few championship games I’ve watched not only is the atmosphere crap but so is the game as a whole, I think this season the championships more of a stalemate division. The premier league this season seems to be what the championship was not so long back.
maybe I need to take my red and white premier league glasses off. Anyone agree?

When you were telling people the PL was shit and the championship was the best league in the world, were you actually watching the PL games?
If yes, I’m at a loss as to why you thought the championship was better, unless you’re talking about it being more competitive, which it was.

Premier league...
1. Kick off times and days all over the place
2. Cheating players
3. Expensive tickets
4. Difficult to get away tickets
5. Less games
6. And the horrendous VAR

Championship for me

the competitiveness of the league was why I always said it, it was hard to call week in and week out, exciting games throughout the league.

Premier League:
  • Better media attention on your team
  • Watched globally
  • Higher standard of football
  • More expensive tickets
  • Fewer matches
  • Harder to get to away games
  • Full house for most matches
  • VAR
  • More TV money

Championship:
  • More games on Sky
  • More matches
  • Lower standard of football
  • Only decent attendances if you are in the top 6 or against a local rival club
  • Easier to get to away games
  • Less media attention
  • Less TV money
They are both better than being in League 1. :)

Just watched a few bits of pigs vs Brentford this afternoon and the thing that stood out for me was that you're actually allowed to make a tackle in the Championship without conceding a free kick.
Can't comment on atmosphere because there didn't seem to be one.

Anyone who wants to play in the Championship every season obviously doesn't want their team to be successful.

Following a club like ours is all about waiting for that special season, or if we're lucky, a few seasons.

Perennial mid table mediocrity in the Champ would eventually lead to apathy from quite a few fans.

Every PL game feels like an occasion whoever its against, whatever position you are.

Meaningless games against Reading or Wigan are anything but an occasion.

I just watched ten minutes of Barnet v Fylde before switching over for the Manc derby. The contrast was so great that it looked like rather than switching channels, I’d hit fast forward.

In League One you didn't have the sodding international break ;)

The Premier League is the top of the pile. Anyone who says they don’t want to be there is a liar.
I have said this before many times. Certainly before CW. Our last stint there we were tolerated, Warnock was detested, our style of play was awful and I really didn't enjoy it. This time, because we are playing good football, with an excellent manager, trying to win every game and everyone loves us, of course I love it and long may it continue.

I kinda miss winning most weeks. But overall prefer to be drawing at Spurs and Chelsea than sneaking wins against Oldham and Shrewsbury. It's fucking up Wilder's overall win % tho.

Away tickets are bloody good value for money, especially if you are a senior :)

If we were in Watford's position tonight then I am sure we would all be saying how crap the Premier league is and always preferred the Championship.

I thought the Championship was better. More interesting etc. I was wrong

I love being in the Premier League but watch very little live games other than ourselves. I will however find myself watching 2 or 3 championship games a week. The football is slightly more honest, not as many sat back plus most of our future signing will probs come from that league!

Need to seperate quality of football with the excitement and emotion. If not watching us then I prefer exciting campionship over stalemate premiership, thankfully our games have been exciting.

So far this has been a particularly Championship-esque Premier League with it feeling like Liverpool aside anyone can beat anyone.Fair enough the top 4 pulled away a bit but it's still only 9 points from relegation to Man U in 5th - possibly less after tomorrow's games. And you've still got Everton (relegation zone this morning) beating Chelsea fairly comfortably. I think we'd find being in the Prem would be a lot shitter if it was just 6 ridiculously wealthy teams thrashing everyone else every single week. with the rest battling for nothing at all apart from survival, like it often has been... ... ... and which it may still turn out to be, we'll see.

The kick-off times are shit. It's not like it's one game every other month, it's half the games on Sunday afternoon or Monday night or whatever. VAR is obviously shit, but I guess it's going nowhere.

Anyone who prefers the Championship cast your mind back to Thursday night and Newcastle's park the bus tactics. As CW says unlikely any other team will do this again this season. In the Championship we'd be experiencing it most weeks. We are doing well in the Prem because it suits our style of play and nearly all the teams turn up to the Lane looking to take the points.

West Brom v Swansea are certainly helping your argument. Excellent game.

i watch premier league football these days, I didn’t realise what the score was until I read your post and switched over !
Oh aye, I was thinking you still preferred championship until I just read your OP again, I wasn’t trying to be sarcastic. I’m fucked with flu, haven’t eaten properly for a week so I’m not really with it.

I've watched a little bit of championship football since we left it and it just seems so...depressing. Half empty stadiums very few players on the pitch who stand out and due to the fact there is more games doesn't feel like a big event like every game does in the premier league.

I'm sure i could convince myself i'd enjoy it again if we went down but lets asks Stoke and Huddersfield fans if they like it...!

I really dislike the premier league and everything it stands for.

Nice to see us silencing a few critics though.

I certainly preferred the championship and other than our games I the premier league boring

There's a lot to dislike about the Prem and probably all have been said already. Ultimately though I want to see Sheffield United be the best team they can be. I want to see us go toe-to-toe with the best teams. I want to see us sign more players that are as exciting as Mousset is. I want to see us be able to hold on to players like Fleck, JOC, Norwood etc. All that means being Premier League.

I came away from the Man U game disappointed with the result but being sure it was the best standard of football I'd ever seen from a Blades side. By a distance even. For all the irritations of Premier League football, the quality of the game is amazing. The goals, the skill, the saves. It's as good as it gets.
