A lot of yellow cards in today’s game against Wolves,I think Baldock was lucky not to get a second and a sending off,so got away with that.
Players possibly missing a game due to suspension over Dec/Jan
Here’s the list of players with yellow cards this season:

Fleck 4
Lundstram 4
Baldock 4
O Connell 3
Basham 2
Henderson 2
McBurnie 2
Norwood 2
Stevens 2
Egan 1
Freeman 1
McGoldrick 1

I wonder if the FA Cup 3rd round may come into play ;) still 7 games before then though.

Losing Fleck and Lunny at the same time would be a slight worry.

Losing Fleck AND Lunny at the same time would be a "slight worry" ? Bleeding hell thats an understatement - it would be a CATASTROPHE !!

Only issue with that is I think you only serve the ban in the competition you get it in.
5 games for either Lundstram or Fleck to go without getting booked, doubt they'll manage it to be honest so if one gets booked, sub the other immediately!

I wouldn't go quite as far as subbing anybody off, but it does need managing carefully.

I'm comfortable with Luke Freeman coming in for John Fleck in any given scenario. However, a combination of Baldock & Lundstram out at the same time would significantly weaken us. I don't think we're able to adequately cater for that yet... judging by Wilder's whiteboard at the transfer talks meeting, he knows it too.

The last time we played without Lundstrum/ Baldock it was Freeman/ Morrison and it didn’t seem to work.

People said we didn’t have the strength in depth last season and look what happened.

The question is do we try and foul out against Newcastle and back a weakened team against Norwich

Or do we try and last as long as possible which then leaves chance of missing players against man city which we may or may not get nothing from anyway..?

Do bookings in the EFL Cup count in totals because Fleck got booked against Sunderland ? if it does Fleck got his 5th on Sunday against Wolves.

Found the answer > this season will see yellow cards only counting in the competition they are received.

Nah bookings only count in the competitions they get picked up in, so Fleck needs another yellow in the PL before he gets the suspension.

Think it's 2 yellows in FA Cup / Carabao Cup games in the same season = suspension for the next round.

👍

Aye i found the answer online, its 5 bookings = a ban upto Dec 26th then it goes upto 10 bookings before a date in March.

If our midfield was weakened it would give CW the chance to try a different formation - perhaps playing McGoldrick behind two strikers in the 'Duffy role'.

Bash only on 2 yellows? He's clearly not been trying this season!

I’d prefer if we got Baldock, Fleck, Lunny suspended for Norwich. They have basically the same team as last year so I could see that been the one to give some of the others a run. Besic and Freeman in. The back line I’m not too sure. Maybe a 4 and get Ravel in midfield !

The next time the number of cards gets extended is after match 32, when the threshold goes up to 15

Currently its 10 yellow cards brings a 2 game suspension, so with 7 games to navigate our card stands at

Fleck - 7
Baldock - 6
Norwood - 6
Basham - 4 - a mention for Basham, who looked the most likely, along with Fleck and Baldock to rack em up in the top league. His decision making has improved immensely in this regard over the last 2 years
Lundstram - 4
Stevens - 4
McBurnie - 3
JOC - 3

7 more players with 2 or less, but by my reckoning they can't hit 10 as per the rules. I think if you get 2 yellows in 1 game, only the first counts towards this total as the 2nd brings a suspension of it's own (happened to Bash last year against Blackburn I think.

Some highish numbers there. We are constantly on about Besic and maybe Bash being a rash challenge away from a red card but the way Baldock tackles is a problem because he commits himself and then puts in a tackle which results in a yellow. After that it’s a case of the next foul is simply at the discretion of the ref and in the Wolves game and at Palace he could easily have seen a second yellow and we are down to 10 men. Baldock is a great wing back but sometimes his tackling let’s him down.

Lerma Jorghino Milivojevic on 9
Dunk Westwood on 8
Flecky Billing Diop Doucoure Gundogan Kovacic Saiss Ward Prowse on 7
Quite a few on 6
Squad will be important but most key is having players being a better fit for the positional requirements of the player being suspended (or rested to avoid getting the 10 Cards)
This is where Lord Wilder and Staff have scored out big time this January

Milivojevic should be carded every game for being such a moaning c*nt. His behaviour on Saturday was awful, I think the ref saw through it though.

That our central defence is on 4 or fewer yellow cards is incredible.

What a season they've had.

Good thinking young Badger Blade, some people panic too soon, there's always a solution. Positivity our watch word.
PS. note to self, must remember not to dig up too much of XM's grassed area (can't call it a lawn) when on my evening stroll

Giving away yellow cards has been a key factor in our success, especially higher up the pitch. We've definitely been told to break up more play in the middle of the park to break up counter attacks and this has relieved the pressure on our back 3 hence a lower count of cards for them and a higher amount for our midfield 5.

I know where your coming from with the quip about Bash and had a little smile.
In all seriousness though shows how good his timing in tackles is. What a player.

Fernandinho has made a career doing it
