Very enthusiastic commentator... On Clarke's goal...."Colin Franks under pressure....Clarke has got it... it's over the line! What a weird goal! What a fantastic mixup! Really, did you ever see anything so weird and wonderful in all your life!"

I think we missed a penalty in that game, too, hit the post and wide. (Eddy?)
Hated that game. Absolutely sickening watching those highlights on the old telly that Sunday afternoon. Bet they'd give anything to swap places with us now though.

Yes, it was just after Clough got the sack. We were the better team in the 1st half but L**ds got two goals against the run of play and then we got a penalty before half time but Eddy didnt convert the penalty (yes post and wide like you said)

The day before the match I was coming home by train from my school for the 2 week October holidays and I read in the papers that Jimmy Sirrel was going to be our new manager (there were photos of him at the Lane etc) but he insisted on giving a month's notice to Notts County before becoming our manager in the 2nd or 3rd week of November. Our match against Stoke was shown on MOTD. Cant remember who was presenting MOTD that evening (have a feeling it was Barry Davies). After the match Sirrel was interviewed (in Nottingham, I think as he was still managing Notts County that day), the presenter asked him for comments of the match and Sirrel replied by saying how could he comment on a match that he hadnt seen!

A few days later Notts County told him that it was best for him to start working at Bramall Lane immediately rather than serving out his month's notice. His first match as our manager was the 1-0 defeat at QPR on 25/10/75

Bowlers Potted Meat factory on Broadway Rd. Worked there from 1968-75. Mr Bowler and his son Edward were both proper nice people. Pity the wages were shit.

Just at the end of that road (left side of the photo) was Arnold Palmer Golf Range.

Beyond that was the 'Rec'. Played many a game on there.

There was a full size pitch on the Rec that backed on to a pub where the greatest manager in the Premier league began his managerial career.

Still do, and never forget, we had to put up with having them rammed down our throats nearly every Sunday afternoon, if you missed that, look leeds would have a wanking session over them on the Monday evening.
Bert remembers those days very well. If Billy Bremner even sneezed Look North or Yorkshire Television were all over it.
Bert still hates Leeds to this day because of that era.

I don’t think that the younger generation, who might hate leeds as well, understand where our long term hatred comes from.

Bert is not alone in his hatred of Dirty Leeds
Didn't just apply to football. If Sheffield were invaded by aliens Look North would still be reporting on cats stuck up trees in Leeds...

Thing is tho' Bert ........... you can probably name the whole of their team
