We've been absolutely immense this season and if we continue to play how we currently are, then there's no reason we shouldn't be confident of staying up.

However, a quick glance at the league table shows that despite only losing 3 out of 14 games, we are only 4 points above Everton who sit one place above the relegation zone. It seems really tight this season.

Other than Liverpool everyone else looks capable of taking points off each other. I can't work out if that's a good or bad thing for us.

We don’t need to worry about other teams.

We should be on more points.
Our performances consistently prove we are one of the best teams in this lesgue
and like in previous seasons we seem to be getting better
I’m still looking at a Europa Cup spot....but think it‘ll be really difficult but if teams are taking points off each other then improves our chances.

Think you can forget about us being involved in a relegation battle.
Your arguement about only being 4 points (it’s actually 5 points) above Everton is misleading.

There are 10 teams in between us and a relegation spot.
One team could pull back a 5 point swing but the other 9 teams won’t be able to do it so quickly.
Not every team can win....if a team wins then that means the other team loses and gains 0 points.

We are nowhere near safe and could be sucked back into it with a couple of losses, but not only do we have a 7 point cushion, there are lots of teams below us (twelve) who will be taking points off each other. Our performances have been far better than expected too, we've not really got lucky in any of our games. We've shown we can match Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs, so we can match anyone in the division. My only worry is injuries. The loss of any of our starting eleven would be a big blow.

7 points off 3rd bottom, not exactly a massive gap to bridge. 24 games to go and lots of points for all sides to play for, take nothing for granted no matter how well we are playing ( and we are playing well ) until we hit the 40 points target I think talk of Europe however tongue in cheek is best left until we get well clear of relegation.

I was watching us today and kept reminding myself to look at the performance and not be fixated on the table or the result of a very tight match that could go either way. Let's have it right Wolves are a very good side with some players of real quality. But I saw United dominate them, stand up to their pace and quality, show quality of our own. The table might be tight now but if we keep playing like this we are going to be more than fine. Let's enjoy the ride - it's been a while coming

It's all about the next 4, no doubt about that. In a way we are shamed (trying to find the opposite of "flattered") by the league table - our performances deserve us to be far clearer of the relegation zone than we are in terms of points, but we've had relatively tough fixtures til now with 4 relatively very easy ones coming up. When everyone's played everyone once the table will give a better reflection i think. FFS we've just played Spurs away, Wolves away, Man Utd and are STILL top 7 and above Man U and Arsenal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are absolutely NO easy games in this division. But keep playing as we are, we'll be ok. We also have accrued a large number of yellow cards so suspensions could be an issue. We are far from comfortable but looking good because we have yet to be outplayed by anyone in this division.

The last time we were in the prem we won at wigan the week before Christmas, that put us on 17pts.
So despite feeling a little like we should have a few more points we're doing fine and if we can beat Newcastle I think we can kick on.

Ignore the results....anyone can gave good luck or bad luck.
The best way is to look at performances as they are generally an indicator of future results.
Our performances are improving....without being cocky using logic our results should start improving too.

Also there‘s no comparison between the Warnock 07 PL team and this team.
The reality is this current SU team is one of the best sides in the division....I’ll be surprised and disappointed if we don’t finish top half.
Keep playing as we are and Europa Cup is reachable.....that’s much better then being OK.

Us fans can be positive/ cocky because Wilder has it under control...he’ll take each game as it comes and fully respect the opposition.

As already mentioned the squad doesn’t look great...so any injuries could see a down turn.
However since Wilder has been manager we don’t seem to have any injuries....it’s remarkable realky.
Even injury prone David McGoldrick has stopped being injury prone.
These (on paper) easier matches during December will tell us where we are as a club.

Based on Steve Bruce’s last approach at the Lane I agree, it’s unlikely.

We’ve had one of the hardest starts of any side this season 3rd hardest sky rated us at.

And now a run of fixtures against the other 14 which could either put us down the table or cement our place.

No doubt we’ve been a top 7/8 side based on performances.

We now have a run of games that are all winnable, because the sides we are playing have all been a bit inconsistent.
Turning our recent form of draws into future wins, is the key to our season this month.
I'm sure we can make our current league position more secure if we get a few 3 pointers in December.

This, this and this again. 2007 we were tolerated, looked down on, sneered at and it wasn't good to watch, especially away.

We revelled in our underdog tag back then. Warnock harvested a siege mentality, an us against them approach that was essential for a team of such limited ability. But now because of our current crop of players and style of play I’m not ashamed to say that I can no longer bear to watch vids from the Warnock/Bassett eras as I now understand the disdain that came our way for the poor quality of our football.
With my red and white tinted glasses on, I never really understood why in our previous “good times” everyone still mocked derided the team that worshipped. But the saddest thing of all is that in a mere 3 and half seasons CW and AK have turned the last 40 years of our history into a steaming pile of shit by comparison.

I'd much rather be 7th (1 point off 5th) and bemoaning points dropped in a few games that could have seen us pushing 4th (not to mention the fact we've earned and deserved every point we've got), than 18th and bemoaning dropped points and missed opportunities when we've clearly not been good enough in a number of games.


Long way to go and it's not unreasonable to think a dip in results could come, whether through form or injured/suspended players.

The games between now and Boxing Day will give a great picture of where we truly are imho.

It is worryingly tight this year. Last season the team in 7th (Man Utd) were 12pts above Huddersfield in 17th.



The next 5 games are crucial for us. I feel we can only afford 1 defeat in those games because let's face it, 29th Dec through January is an killer
