I thought Tony Currie had resigned, but now pops up in photos including the latest in the new club shop at Meadowhall, surely he can’t be that hard up he’s working on the checkouts!

The Prince was probably conscious of upsetting older Blades if he let him leave. Wouldn't want slippers off in the car park would he? Shame Currie is still at the club though after his little hissy fit over Uncle Kev's departure, bless him.

Saw him play and had his signed poster on my bedroom wall. He was my first idol. I was there for his 'testimonial' with the Housemartins, when he rolled up broke at the Lane again.

Roll the clock forward and my daughter and boyfriend were students getting minimum wage for bar and table work. TC consistently treated all the kids like shit, but still put on a smiling face for the older punters. He's lost all of respect from me for being a needless twat. I've still got memories of TC the hero player, but personally I don't give a shit about him now.

We owe him nothing and he's actually done pretty well out of it.

Okay I will take this; no it emphatically doesn't excuse poor behaviour, but not everyone walks this earth with a heart & head full of the joys it brings. Some have demons that are difficult to control, or have quick tempers or trigger points that let them down at times, & lets face it who, having reached a certain age, doesn't secretly enjoy being a grumpy old man, I know I do.
None of that excuses poor behaviour, but we are what we are. I have met TC on three occasions I am proud to say, & he was perfectly fine on all of them. He will never be the life & soul of the party, he is quite a shy individual privately, which is probably why he was such an entertainer on the pitch. He is responsible for my highest moments of joy watching United & that will never be diminished because he can be a bit of a git at times. Sheffield United & Tony Currie belong together, & I hope he can be part of my club as long as he is able.
