No-one 4 games into Wilder’s first season saw us finishing as Champions of League One with 100 points.

No-one in our first Championship (consolidation) season could foresee us take apart Wednesday apart and then flirt with the play-offs for most of a Coutts-interrupted season.

No-one thought that a 30 year old free transfer from Ipswich was the answer to our ageing strike force.

After the first 2 matches of the next season, & still trying to solve the Coutts conundrum, no-one saw us being promoted (without the need for play-offs.)

As we dreamt of a Premier Season where we’d “Give it a go…” No-one had heard of Lys Mousset, no-one was convinced that Chris Basham (a player who been with us during some of the failing League One years) was a premiership centre half. No-one thought John Lundstrum,a peripheral & much derided figure in our Coutt-less Championship season, would become our midfield dynamo.

And still we go on…. What other things none of us believed will happen next.

Which is why after we’ve scored 3 (THREE) goals against Man U, & we out-played them for 70 minutes I’m still smiling from ear to ear.

I watched the match in an Oxfordshire pub – where what seemed like the whole pub cheered after McBurnie’s equaliser … I swelled with pride knowing this was MY club… doing these things. I don’t care that they didn’t win as I know Chris Wilder / Alan Knill / ALL the players & staff will push & push … & I’m loving every minute of this journey.

Being of a certain age I was of the view that Wilder had to “keep us up” to convince me he was our best ever manager….. Now he doesn’t have to anything… & Any comparisons are irrelevant anyway.

He is – His own man & anything he does is fine by me. That’s also why I’m relaxed about the signings of McBurnie, Robinson, Morrison….in fact the signing of anyone. As Wilder will either get the most out of them for OUR TEAM or he’ll move them on with a respectful “Thanks for your efforts – it’s just not working out for you’re here…”

So I raise my hat to him & say “Chapeau!” ..... It's French for ..."You're the Dogs Bollocks Mr Wilder!"

These are the best of times. In 20 years we’ll be looking back wistfully at this period. As much as I’d love this to be just the beginning of a long and successful period in the premier league along with European qualification, history tells us this is not the normal blades way, so we all need to enjoy it. I’m nearly 50 and I just missed the Currie and Woody era. This is the best blades side in my lifetime.

Did they all say we'd have won if we'd got Karl Robinson in charge ?
To be fair to the locals raul, they were all very complimentary (& rightly so)...
Some even regaling me with their Oxford Chris Wilder stories
