Most underrated rated player, in my 40 years of watching the Blades
They were the newly promoted side weren’t they?
I remember him deploying that very same up and under from the penalty spot v Southampton tooNever mind the ping, it was the up-and-under that led to 2 Wednesday players flattening each other that set it all in motion...
Sorry but have to disagree. He could only ever play the way he was facing . No skill or grace. Brian Robson type of player and God knows how he ever became a legend.Agree, quality on his day.
Did he hit the clock that used to be on the front of BLUT?I remember him deploying that very same up and under from the penalty spot v Southampton too

Quite possibly. I know he deprived Booker of a hatrick that day. The. Bastard.
Should have had a penalty too that day when Worthington handled it on the line
It makes no odds, Gannon would've missed it. FACT. Fact. fact![]()
You call that fog? I take it you are not old enough to remember the Cup Replay against Arsenal in February 1959 when most people in the ground only found out what was happening at the other end by rumours going round the ground. We only found out that way that the Arsenal keeper had gone off injured (no subs then), and only really believed it after half-time, when we could with our own eyes see that it was the full-back in goal. Now that was proper fog...Quite possibly. The penalty gets worse in my mind as the years pass. It may have started just over the bar, but all these years later, it now lands in CCC’s car park.

I also remember the fog that day. Proper British fog. None of your namby pamby EU clean air nonsense. A proper pea souper. The type we’ll hopefully get post Brexit. Kids nowadays have never seen proper fog, grumble, grumble, grumble......

I've been rightly put in my place, squire. In restrospect it was a mere mist (JG's penalty didn't hit the clock either)
40:40 the magic starts................
On this day in 1991 we beat Wednesday 2-0. I always thought John Gannon was unfairly targeted by the 'boo boys', great play by him for the first goal.
I hate all this filmed evidence. It was nowhere near the clock (always assuming there ever was a clock there)...

Poor old Chris Woods. The Wendy fans never forgave him for letting that second goal in!
