Yes. Just. I’m not exaggerating. 4 hours there, a while (including a lengthy stop off in London) back - wow. Well worth it. What a fucking side we are.
We don’t have a weakness in our side. A third of the season through. Everyone commits to this way of playing, everyone plays for each other, everyone defends, everyone attacks. Incredible.
Mousset just gives us something else. He was frightening the impressive Davinson Sanchez to death and only his pace got him out of trouble. Was that Alderweireld and dare I say Mousset would’ve got another couple of chances simply due to his pace alone. Gives us such an edge and something to pin the opposition defence back. And that’s doing him a disservice because he’s more than just an Olympic sprinter he’s a fucking good footballer.
Lunny with his continued impressive turnaround - fantastic today.
Poor mistake from Egan and Stevens between them but fucking hell incredible performance otherwise.
Baldock - glad he got his goal. No matter how fortuitous. Deserved it and really happy for him.
Didsy? Wow. I don’t need to use any superlatives or descriptive words you all know that he’s about. Goal ROBBED. Gutted for him. Leads me on to my next point.
Of course the big sickener today is the decision (which wasn’t offside...)
VAR needs to change in 3 ways for me:
1. If you can’t make the decision in 30 seconds it’s not ‘clear and obvious’ so the original decision stands
2. If not, ENCOURAGE the refs to run and check the screen. What’s the point implementing it otherwise? The ref in Stockley Park is literally just that, a ref. Not a superhuman or a robot. He’s just going off an opinion.
3. ‘Phases of play’ should be 5 seconds. No longer.
On to the European journey. What a special time to be a blade
