As it's coming up to the end of another decade (fuck me, time flies!) I figured we could do this.

It'd probably be easier to pick a worst XI from the decade because of all the shit we've had to endure! Nevertheless, we've had some great players especially from 2016 on, but we also had a couple who stood out before they were inevitably nicked by big clubs (Maguire, DCL) or thrown in jail (He Who Must Not Be Named) from earlier.

What's your pick then? I'm going to leave it to you but no prizes for guessing which manager I've chosen...

I remember in the Triple Assault season that we must have had a chance of winning team of the year at SPOTY.

Then Jonny Wilkinson kicked a 'ball' over the bar in November 2003 and they won Team of the Year.

I thought last week that if England don't beat South Africa (is that who they played?) then who else could possible be Team Of The Year?

No formation, just 11 players, four defenders, four mids, two forwards

Henderson
Stevens
Maguire
Basham
O'Connell
Fleck
Duffy
Norwood
Brooks
Sharp
McGoldrick

Subs:
Simonsen
Lowton
Egan
Quinn
McDonald
Evans
Porter

Henderson
Maguire Egan O'Connell
Walker Stevens
Fleck Duffy Norwood
Evans Beattie ( technically 2nd stint this decade but counting 1st stint performances)

Evans v Sharp = Billy 100%
I know I will be in a minority here but peak Evans was better than billy. His all round game significantly better. God knows how many goals he could have got in a Wilder team back then. Purely speculative of course because obviously Billy has achieved alot more with us.

How many would Deane and Agana have got with the chances we make now?

Englands World Cup cricket team.

In league 1. Billy has scored more than 20 goals in League 1 and the Championship

derekacorah I'm not comparing records, Sharp clearly wins. My opinion is based on what could have been. I was comparing their league one seasons to show just how good he was at the time.

95% of this board would put Billy in the team of the decade. Complete Blades legend and performances/stats back that up. He went away and when most players would have bottled it came back TWICE to prove his loyalty and love for the Blades. Ched Evans is nowhere near BS.

Maguire won 3 player of the year awards and was in the League One team of the year all 3 of those seasons.

He’s easily been one of our players of the decade. It would’ve been nice if he’d been able to play under Wilder.

There needs to be a pre-Wilder team and a “current Wilder’s most influential team”

Henderson
Lowton Maguire Egan O’Connell Stevens
Norwood Fleck
Duffy
McGoldrick Sharp
Notable mentions to:
Blackman
Baldock
Freeman
Basham
Brayford (loan spell)
Coady
Quinn
McDonald
Coutts
Murphy
Brooks
Evans (first spell)
Clarke

Evans under Danny Wilson was probably the best season I’ve seen from an individual for the Blades.
Billy has done it in the Champ unlike Evans though.

Lowton over baldock ? Even brayford was better than him he couldn't defend

Evans was on fire that season. It was like watching Ronaldo when he started to emerge as a world class player at Man U. He would single handedly tear defences apart and score goals from nothing. Headers, long rangers, tap ins... think people forget just how good he was.

That said I'd have Billy in a heartbeat because he's our Billy and I fooking love him.

If we could get Maguire Egan and O’Connell into the same team somehow then that would be a pretty formidable defence

This but swap Didsy for Evans in the first XI.

I debated putting Evans as I agree, he was spectacular that season. Who knows where he’d have gone on to play if it wasn’t for his time inside.

Whilst Evans might have once looked the more complete player, Billy is a shoe-in for his goals. Saved us from god knows what in that horrible season under Adkins. Then 30 goals in the 100 points season, before 23 last season to help us win promotion from the Championship.

Didzy goes in simply because he’s one of the most naturally talented players I’ve seen in a Blades shirt and is currently producing it in the Prem.

Maybe controversial but I put Lowton in because he was class that season. An exciting young full back who was always a threat going forward. Since then he’s gone on to have a decent career at the top level. Baldock did look better than him in that game at the Lane the other week though...

Henderson
Maguire Egan O’Connell
Baldock Norwood Fleck Stevens
Murphy
McGoldrick Sharp

Special mention to Chris Basham for his service and dedication to the club.
