Nice bit of gouda or Red Leicester with pork pie, crusty bread and Branson.

If he was wearing a soldiers beret of a family member or someone close or even just doing it as a sign of solidarity, then it's not cheesy at all. In fact I think it's a good thing.

Applewood Smoked or Spicy Mexican. Also partial to a Boursin.

Possibly because a lot of fans last year didnt realise that the last post signifies the start of the minute's silence and reveille the end and people started cheering after the last post was played.

Saturday’s crowd still managed to misunderstand a simple instruction, which was a minute’s silence starting and ending on the referee’s whistle. We ended up with a mixture of silence and applause. All in all, it was respectful, but the Last Post and Reveille are both really evocative and they should be part of the ceremony.

Double Gloucester. Mature Cheddar.

The applause started in the Burnley end to mask the fact that they couldn’t keep their fucking mouths shut in the first place.

6 fingered dingle twats.

Should be a rule in the remembrance games that if you’re not in the ground at 5 to 3, you wait outside until the minutes silence is over. Ruined every year by pissed up twats coming in late and not realising what’s happening.

It's an opinion. Mine was I was embarrassed for him.
No matter how well intentioned in his own head.

It's a time for personal reflection. It's not something that can be ruined. It's not "a display". It doesn't matter to me one jot what others are doing during my minute's silence. I also happen to believe it has no place at a football match. But, it's a long tradition, then so be it. I'm happy to choose to keep silent for a minute & not worry what others are doing.

Lincolnshire charcoal cheese is lovely, admittedly it's black, and it arrives in a black wax coating and looks like a lump of coal.

Good for you

I always think it has a place at football and is always well respected wherever it takes place. I dont understand however why it now takes place a week before remembrance Sunday. Presumably it will happen again this Saturday at Spurs being as it's the nearest date to the 11th? I grew up watching my dad play local sunday league football and it was always commemorated on the Sunday nearest the 11th November. It lasted as far as I can remember until the 1990s when I was playing and then started to peter out.

I've been going to The Lane since the early 70s, so I'm aware it's a long standing tradition to try to have a minutes silence. I've never served in the Forces. But, I did used to play The Last Post in Church as a lone Bugler on Armistice Sunday. And, when "invited" to observe a silence, I will. But, it has always seemed odd to me that they try this at a football match. In the general sense, one of the least respectful environments around. People calling each other 6 fingered Dingle twats, singing hate songs routinely, swinging pigs (as you, apparently, should do) - and yet attempting silence. Layer that with the new approach - that there's a right way to silence & a wrong way. Creating yet more conflict. I'm against it.

I thought he was wearing the beret of the King's Own Dronfield Light Infantry? A division in which he served fearlessly during the Cold War.
