How can you take a club seriously who play in a huge leisure complex. Nothing more than a footballing Disneyland.
 
As sterile and soulless as the rest of the bowls, just closer to the pitch.

Looks like a toilet bowl from the outside too.

A monument to delusions of grandeur and profit at the expense of history and fans wallets.

Lovely shitters I've heard though, which is what we all go to the football for.
 
I can only assume everyone replying has had one too many sunday slurps.

There’s a reason this is the hottest away ticket of the season, superb ground and far from ‘just a modern bowl’. It’s got a bit of that WHL character to it, it’s different class.

I've not had any alcohol since we went up.

Just don't get the appeal. It's closer to the pitch than the other bowls which is good.

Just being a new ground makes it popular though, when it's as old as the Emirates I don't think anyone will be raving about it.

I'd put it level with the Etihad on the bowl scale. Bowl+

Wembley is Bowl-

Emirates is just bowl.

Did you not see all of the videos and hype around this stadium when it opened.... it has bottom up beer pourers... i mean come on, it must be amazing to witness that...

Joking aside, it does appear to be different to the usual bowl stadium
 
I have to admire what they have done with the real estate they had to start with. Like it or not, with all the money that revolves around PL as a business entertainment investment, it will be the future of top level football in the years to come.

And town, I'm partial to looking for good shitters when I'm out for a beer, especially when they're clad in that pvc/pleather looking stuff that seems to be in fashion at the moment. Love a good shitter me.
 
Funny but when we are playing a new team at our new gaff I often have a quick peruse of their forums. They usually have a similar thread to this one and hidden away somewhere they have another one with people desperate to get tickets.

Personally I prefer the old school grounds and would have been happy to watch Spurs in a 45k revamped WHL but modern football dictates these new super-stadiums.

As far as new grounds go, the new WHL is very well done. It is an amazing stadium but to fill the extra 20-25k seats they will sell tickets to anyone that can afford them. Which of course dilutes the fan base and the atmosphere.

So good and bad.
 



It's just staggering to see some actual thought go into a stadium during this horrendous, unimaginative design period.

They've even considered the atmosphere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Kop shows a good deal of consideration for the home supporters which is incredibly strange.

Compare it to the tragic thing they've built for Atletico Madrid.

I'd like to think this stadium represents turning the corner as far as design goes, but I don't think so.

Are you implying that the additional capacity is all set aside for high-paying customers? If so, has any effort been made to keep prices affordable for the 30k core fans you had at WHL?

To be honest I think the new stadium is remarkable achievement. Especially when you consider how West Ham just aren’t West Ham anymore. Football became big business 25 years ago, so now it’s about protecting its soul whilst playing the money game. I hope Spurs don’t allow themselves to become too much of a tourist attraction.

The majority of STs cost between £1000-1200 but range from a few at £800 (only if you are an adult attending with a child) to £2200 for 'premium lite'.

My ST increased from £700 for 21 games to £1200 for 19 games. Which on a per match basis was a 90% increase.

Many of us sell 25-50% of our tickets (through official club channels) to cover some of the costs which of course exacerbates the issue of tickets getting into tourists hands.

Most of us live outside London these days and so when you factor in costs of travel, programme, food, travel and drink the cost of attending a match is around £100-120 per match.

If you do the cup games you are looking at £2500 at least which is £4k out of your gross salary.

Wow. Making the champions league final must have been a god send for Levy. If the team had had a disappointing finish whilst all this was going on it could have got a lot more difficult for him to navigate.

I realise London is nothing like the provinces, but the cost and tourism factors are a world away from football as it’s experienced elsewhere. Also, when you say most of you live outside London, it makes me wonder what the future is for community based support. I hope this isn’t lost on people who run the club.

I also don't eat every slice of 50/50 in Morrisons when I need a loaf of bread, I use my eyesight, reading ability and experience to tell me that, yes, that is bread, without requiring a sample.

While we have 'top 4' status the club will always be able to sell tickets to tourists etc.

A mid-table finish and no-European football next season might make the club appreciate the hardcore fans a bit more.

"Average distance from the pitch" is meaningless though. Even the fattest of us only occupy one seat so I'm only interested in what the view is like from mine.

In large stadiums you can see fuck all from up on high. The first time I went to Valencia's Mestalla the game below was like subutteo and planes coming in to land at the airport five miles away were closer to the action. The next time I didn't make that mistake, got a better seat and the whole experience in a real old-school ground was fantastic.

So, by all means build a ground that gets more people in, then give the extra punters binoculars. Though, as West Ham have found, increasing the crowd size hasn't increased the revenue.
