Agree does seem weird.....it’s been left so late that your friends are likely to be sat no where near your seat.

Also shouldn‘t EVERY MATCH be season tickets holders can bring up to 3 family members or friends with them.
Thats how a fanbase traditionally grows. Current hardcore fans bring someone along who is a casual fan. Eventually the casual fans develop an interest.

What about regular supporters who don’t have an ST then missing out because a ST holder gets three tickets extra?

Maybe be the day of general sale but not before.

I’ll be amazed if we’re only a few hundred short of capacity.

You're probably correct in this as I've noticed it before on the ticket website. The club should be taken to task though for pushing the sale of restricted view tickets only to release another batch later with apparently unrestricted views, that's a borderline scam. I think it was the Liverpool game and it was commented on in this forum. We'll still top 30k tomorrow and that doesn't leave many remaining bearing in mind the capacity is now 31.7k as evidenced by the Liverpool match.

Why not just put tickets on sale more than 3/4 weeks before the match and let them go to general sale a week before

It's a strange one boxer if there's 600 tickets left and just 2 days to buy for friends and family ! Any takers will have to be sharpish to do all that's required to buy them.
Not only that ! a small group would want to sit together and no where near the season ticket holder is sat with not much chance of sitting together..
In principle it's a good idea to introduce new fans but it has to be thought out better than that as I said it's a strange one.

Its possible to move your ST seat to another part of the ground to sit with family or friends. Agree that its probably more likely to be able to do that on BLUT than anywhere else. Also agree that timing is strange.

They've put another 200 plus on the Kop leaving around 650 with a view left in all parts of the ground and another 200 restricted view. Seats together only on BLUT and Kop.

Having sat in the Pukka Pies Stand for the Arsenal game I can safely say the above is luxury compared to my experience in there...

A glance at the website didn't make clear whether the friends/family get loyalty points.

The whole article is as clear as mud. It doesn’t say what personal information is required for those who you’re buying for, if they need to sit with you, if they can collect the ticket (or do you need to go with them), do they get loyalty points?

The staff in the Ticket Office will probably be going in 15 minutes early in the morning for intensive training ... if anyone has decided on the rules by then. It could be a good opportunity to take young kids/grandkids, etc.

This however is just a bit daft because if you have a ST on the South you've no chance of bringing a friend with you unless you sit on the front row near the Kop corner flag.

In a way it's not the idea it's the marketing, don't make it seem like it'll be a day out for all the family because you'll be all around the ground.

If we become an established Premier League side, finances should take care of themselves. But if not, we need to encourage as many people as possible to catch the Blades bug.

Usually there are seats towards the back of the BLUT business centre side, so that's an option, but that's not ideal, and really there are no discounts or anything so the only people this offer exists for are the small percentage who want to bring people with zero loyalty points. Unless I'm reading it wrong.

That goes for most of John Street and Westfield. The only areas a group could sit together are BLUT, Kop corner and the south side of the Kop which are always the last to fill. I can only assume they mean to bring friends and sit separately but that wouldn’t work with kids. I can‘t see many wanting to give up their seat on John street to sit on the KK.

Dont see the logic there snooty just bring the remaining seats up on the website not many left at all.its going to be 30 plus even if no more are sold.
How are they going to spirit up lots of empty seats.

Spot on! We are obviously not expecting a 30k plus crowd - and it's only just dawned on them.

Reminds me a bit of the Sheffield Wednesday campaign in the 1970's, when they had a picture of manager Danny Williams plastered on the side of Sheffield's buses, and the slogan..."Bring a Friend". At least that was pro-active though!

When I went online, at 8.58 am on the first day of sale to buy my Spurs ticket, I noticed that a large number of seats in the area allocated to United fans, were not available for sale. My assumption is that these seats had already been taken up by "friends of the club" for want of a better description. If so, then I think the club should be getting in touch with these "friends" and asking them how many tickets they would like for the Burnley game on saturday? I'd expect them to want a similar number of tickets for the Burnley game as they wanted for the Spurs game - it would seem only fair. And I'd expect them to pay for them as well.

I will probably never get a job in the ticket office.

Spot on. Looks like a panic move after the horse has bolted. Hopefully there's a thousand or so fans who had put their plans on hold for the weekend in case the club changed their ticketing policy at the last minute.
The club has been sending away season ticket holders who wanted to bring friends all season but now we face the reality of relatively poor ticket sales (once the restricted view tickets not on sale are included) they turn to season ticket holders to sell the tickets for them. The irony eh.
Can forgive the club making mistakes on ticketing but we are making the same mistakes every game and not learning. It's like no other club in the premier league has come up with the magic formula to not have a thousand or two empty seats most home games that we could learn from.
