This Manc Poo formation, set up and play, reminds me very much of something a certain Mr Wilder cooked up 3 years ago!
It seems that some have finally taken notice, and the Mancs look very much like we did when we played the Phlegm warblers, just with "better" players, and it's showing!!

Getting tiresome hearing things of that ilk to be fair.

Conte’s Chelsea won the league playing that system that very same season - from pre season.

Man United have seen how well we did against Liverpool as a way to beat them and they’ve mirrored it - it’s a very simple thing to do. They didn’t play the same way we do, they just lined up the same.

You could argue that maybe the overlapping centre halves is a first in this country, but that’s about it. The rest is a case of been there, done that.

What Chris and Alan have done is extraordinary and cannot give them enough credit but let’s not pretend they reinvented the wheel.

yeah i posted the same in the shoutbox. three centre backs marking the front three and the wing backs pushing on to press TAA and Robertson back..
except that their centrebacks didn't (couldn't ) do the overlap thing
plus . one thing i did notice. they completely hit the wall after 75 minutes. they were knackered. they couldn't do it for the full 90 like we do week in week out. shows how fit our lads are.

I’m fairly sure we played three at the back for a while during our promotion season under Porterfield to allow Joe and Heffernan to get forward.

Plenty of sides have played three at the back. They were doing it in Italy in the 60s.
Plenty of sides have played three at the back with the middle centre half pushing into midfield when they’re in possession.

The question is ‘what team has played three at the back and allowed both wide centre halves to push so far forward they are overlapping the full backs?’
