Blackwell was the right man to come it when he did and also did a good job until the start of this season. The only way he will keep his job now is if he takes us up this year. Fat fucking chance of that, so I am 100% sure that he will go at the end of the season.

What gets me is that surely Blackwell knew Geary would struggle to come through 2 games in 4 days??
So therefore, one can only conclude that his masterplan all along was, should this scenario occur, to replace Geary with Ward??

Word's really do fail me, especially at 1-0 down and putting arguably our most creative player at right back.

Genuine question, is there anything preventing Blackwell giving any of the youth players a chance? Conor Brown anyone? Surely, even with his inexperience, he would do a better job at right back than Wardy?

But I suppose it's not me getting paid large amounts of money to make those decisions eh?

Which is where we finished last year.

Which goes to indicate how far we're sliding.

Yes, the defence did great... but all it does is prove that we have the players. The problem is that no matter how good our defence is, we'll never get anywhere, because don't have a midfield. We can't play football. And Blackwell can't teach that because he's never played the game outside the six yard box.

Having said that, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt here, because I don't seriously believe that you think it's acceptable for us to go to Forest for 'only' a one-nil defeat. But that gratuity won't last if you keep calling me dude ;-)

Can I ask what he did "wrong" last night, other than not have an adequate replacement on the bench should Geary end up injuring himself in a tackle?

He played the formation many people called for and he played the team many people called for.

As posted earlier though, it wasn't that he'd had too many games of late, it was that he injured himself in a tackle.

I'd have put Monty at right back and Quinn in the middle. But that would have given us less bite in the middle of the park and a slower right back.

Wardy certainly wasn't our best player up until this point and actually improved at right back. I'd say he was much more effective going forward from deeper than he'd been on the wing.

Obviously guarenteed to have been much different than it would have been leaving Wardy on the wing where he wasn't doing anything.

Like I said, I'd have done it differently myself, but the player himself actually improved after he went to right back and did the primary job of stopping Forest scoring another goal.

If Blackwell does everything the fans call him to and we still lose, it's "appalling management". If he plays a different formation and we lose, draw or scrape a win, it's "appalling management".

Infact, he's been accused of "appalling management" for playing Wardy on the wing, where actually he's played more of his career than up front.
