Has anyone tried to define Bladeiness, or Bladey Bladeiness? I have given it a go.
  • An almost religious like deference to Blades icons like Bassett and Currie, as well as to current directors and board members.
  • Placing exessive value on the fact that potential managers or players are Blades. 'Mickey Adams would be a great appointment. After all, he is a Blade'
  • Full acceptance of the official club line and club statements. A Bladey Blade will always prefer official club coach travel and official merchandise, and will fully adhere to all ground regulations. He may baulk at watching an illegal stream, and can never be a hooligan.
  • A noatalgic, romantic view of the Blades teams of yesterday, and a belief that things were better in the old days.

ask Pinchy.. in fact where is Pinchy??

I think Flatulent_Bob nailed it best a few years ago.....

It's when you go down town with the lads, drinking real ales, and you're talking about T'Blades and one of the lads suggests "aye up, what about bringing Browny or Tongey back to sure up our midfield", or "Morgs is an absolute hero so needs to be kept around or even offered a shot at the managers job". But your lad Pinchy , who's the Archbishop of Banterbury and as well as The Bantersarus Rex says "nah bruv, you're having a bladey bladeness breakdown, bring 'em back, bring 'em all back", and you go Pinchy son you're an absolute ledge, you deserve a extra cheeky Japur with a side order of top quality bants.

  • Placing exessive value on the fact that potential managers or players are Blades. 'Mickey Adams would be a great appointment. After all, he is a Blade' I'm a Blade I couldn't manage United, nor would I think I could same as Adams

Rarely if ever used club travel preferred other modes of transport, don't watch streams due to viruses if you can get summat cheaper you go for it.
  • A noatalgic, romantic view of the Blades teams of yesterday, and a belief that things were better in the old days. Things may not have been better but the football was, grounds were dumps, but we saw some fantastic players and unlike today were men not tosspots in men buns. They got up unless really injured instead of rolling about crying like some.
Also reading your comments they seem only to apply to "older" supporters, lot's of younger fans fit your descriptors.

A Blade is someone who only appreciates graft and gerrinitforud.

Joking apart I'll dig out a poem someone once sent me called 'What is a Blade'

Isn't Kevin McCabe the ultimate Bladey Blade?

This is just my opinion the biggest Blade I've come across in all my years, was Shred RIP mate.

Bladey Bladeness is an entirely fictitious state dreamed up by Pinchy with no grounding in reality.

If you want Billy in the team because he's the best goal scorer - it's because he's a Blade. Pure Bladey Bladeness.
If you wanted Chris Wilder as manager due to his lower league record - it's entirely because he used to play for us. Blind Bladey Bladeness.
If you think Phil Jagielka can add anything to the squad in the Prem - it's only down to his former Blade status. Nostalgic Bladey Bladeness.

Obviously this state of mind is best expressed by the use of an hilarious nickname.

A Bladey Blade is like one of the Christian preachers that you get in America who believe that the world is flat and that we all need to repent our sins. A total naivety towards making their own mind up about what is happening around them so put their fingers in their ears and delude themselves into believing whatever propaganda fed to them through the official channels.

I've scattered a few 'Bladey-favourite-Fleck' grenades around, but he's keeping his head down.

There is actually a church in Ontario, Canada called Sheffield United Church.

Sometimes crops up in my YouTube suggestions.

I believe legend has it, if you say Nick Montgomery three times he will appear!
You have to shout ‘Nick Montgomery. The Full Monty. That means cock and balls out’ three times in a crowded area, like a train station.

Give it a go.

Bladeiness one of our Scottish contingent no doubt.
Freedom!

There will come a time, in the future, when football fans all over the world can watch their team play every game via a legal live stream. They will have to pay a small amount to do so, but the quality will be good. The picture will be clear and sharp and won't freeze. And the commentary will be in the language of their choice.

It will come because that's what the consumer wants and clubs will make more money from this than having fans come to the stadium in person. In fact, going to watch a game live will become a thing of the past, because it's expensive for the clubs to do and a lot of hassle too. The increasingly stringent health & safety laws will make it legally hazardous for clubs to have live events - and the demand for watching the game remotely will outweigh the number of fans who want to go and watch it live and be far more profitable for the clubs.

Fans will be able to sit at home and see every kick and every angle of the game played out on a TV screen. They will be able to freeze the action to see every refereeing decision, be it a game-changing moment, like a penalty, or even a minor foul or a throw-in given the wrong way. To keep fans engaged, they will be able to press a voting button and give their opinion on controversial decisions. Not that those opinions will necessarily be acted upon, but it's a way of keeping a remote audience involved. Back in the day, some thought VAR was a way of improving the game, but it became obvious that it is all part of a process to sterilise the game and remove any element of controversy, as the game becomes a non-contact sport, and to further aid its commercialisation for even greater profit.

As they sit in their armchairs, sipping from tins of beer, whilst the game unfolds before them, they will be able to weight-lift with cushions, to keep themselves fit, and laugh at the days that previous generations used to travel hundreds of miles to watch their team and sit or stand on cold terraces in winter. And "Bladeyness" will amount to having a subscription to the Blades TV channel.

I sincerely hope not of course...but...

As opposed to being a non “bladey blade”............What’s that?

Some of us have all that now apart from the legal part

Cerberus Blade
Mate, before making our minds up, the Carrier Bag Firm need you to elaborate on what style of beer people will be sipping from those tins you mention. Thanks in advance
