Sheffield United are expanding its reach into the city centre with the opening of a brand new merchandise shop.

The Blades are launching a concession on the lower ground floor of TJ Hughes department store which is on the corner of Arundel Gate and High Street in Sheffield.

Supporters will be able to buy official United merchandise including the new 2008/09 home and away kits, the official match day and training collection, leisure wear, gifts and souvenirs from Saturday 6 September.

Captain Blade and United staff will be at the shop to mark the opening and give away balloons to fans.

Peter Pridmore, Head of Retail at Sheffield United, said: "We are pleased to be opening a new club shop in the town centre, helping our supporters to gain even easier access to the latest merchandise.

"Our previous city centre shops have proved very popular and we expect this to be another great success."

Saw it mentioned on the scoreboard the other day :) Classy eh?

What I want to know is when we're going to have a subsidiary ticket office in the city centre. I know the Lane isn't too far out of the way, but how many more people would buy tickets if they could go along while they were shopping?

It wouldn't have to be a big place and surely it wouldn't be too hard to remote access into the ticket office systems from anywhere? We could have a kiosk on Castle Square so people could buy tickets as they got off the tram.

I know there's the capability to phone and interweb sales... but I know I wouldn't trust our ticket office to do that properly :) I much prefer going to get the actual ticket.

What about one at Meadowhall Train/Bus Station?

It'd cost... but spend money to make money?

Loving the word "souvenirs"

Linz, I agree a ticket office should be opened elsewhere too.

No way am i setting foot in TJs!!

VERY down market & looks terrible for the rep of our club.

Can see the piggys having a laugh over this. :(

Could be worse , it could have been in PRIMARKS !!!!

That'd be about right, given the quality of the new shirt...

(not the design, btw - I like the design. Just the general manufacturer quality. That said, Derby County's is made by Adidas, and that's crap as well.)

Does TJ's have midfielders sat on their shelves, just a thought ;)

no AMBITION united. we needed a QUALITY store!

Bloody TJs eh? My goodness... Then again, they've got enough space!

I'd love an inner city ticket office - I just made it to Lane for 5pm other day, as it was throwing it down and didn't fancy the walk, and bus/tram doesn't exactly go that near... yet they go very near town!

Didn't "pigs in town" in awkward square sell tickets at one point?

Yeah they did & Blades in town (co-op) used to sell tickets too but then stopped for some reason :)
