When was the last time we played world class opposition

I was thinking yesterday because im more used to playing likes of Fleetwood, Rochdale & Stevenage the last decade than the world class opposition this last decade, when was the last time we faced opposition in quality of Liverpool at Bramall Lane. thinking off top of my maybe Chelsea 2006 when it was jose at his peak or more likely Man Utd 2007 when we nearly nicked a win & Ronaldo hilarious 6 yd sitter he missed

I'm gunna say 1978 when we played River Plate as part of the Sabella deal, they won 2-1 IMS but never broke sweat I think they had 5 World Cup winners in team, I do recall though they kicked lumps out of Sabella.

Looking back at that season, I would say that Chelsea had the most "world class" names in their lineups. Although some of them were arguably past their best - Shevchenko, Makalele, Ballack (still scored past us twice though) etc.

I think I that Man U side is the best I’ve seen us play. Even Neville played like a galactico.

As for Chelsea, we should have been ahead, but Webber missed his penalty, they scored twice, and then sat back. They could have done anything at all at 2-0, but instead just held us at arm’s length with embarrassing ease. What a weird and boring 1/2hr of football that was.

They lost 1 game last season, but are unfortunate to be playing in an era where Man City are freakishly good.
Salah, Mane & Firmino - whilst you can offer better individual players, as a front 3 I would say this is probably the best in the world

Leeds on the other hand are cunts.
They won only 2 of their last 9 league games drawing one. That’s 7 points from a possible 27 - or 0.77 points per game. If they would only have had that form through the season they would have been relegated on 35 points
And they have Patrick Wankford.
