If someone had offered you 1 point from Everton away and Liverpool at home, you'd have taken it right? Now we've got 3, so next weekend really is a free hit. But if Norwich can beat City, can we scare the Gerrard-loving scouse wankers? I think we can.

Let's go at them, not fuck about aiming for a point, and see what happens. You never know.
Pressures on them.

Fuck Liverpool, not all that against Napoli were they?

Absolutely favourites to beat us, deservedly so.

As were Chelsea

And Everton.
Everyone is (rightly) favourites to beat us. Don't get me wrong, I expect nothing less than a spanking next weekend, but we might as well have a go at them.

Chris....is that you..?

Saying this game is a free hit is not cap doffing or being a loser.

We're on 8 points after 6 games a great start for us, we're ahead of the game in terms of points per game needed to stay up which is the aim of the season. We've played really, really well so far, indeed probably deserved more points than we had before today, so today's result evens it up a bit.

Liverpool are European champions and along with City are streets ahead of the rest of the league. But we have a solid points base to go into this game without much fear, so we can have confidence in our system, players and we can have a pop at them. Today's result just re-enforces that. We might have had a different mindset if we'd lost today and were on the edge of the relegation zone.

"Free hit" or "go into the game without fear" whatever you want to call it, after today's result, we have a solid base to attack this game and I for one am immensely looking forward to it. If we lose though it's not going to be disastrous.

'Free hit' is tantamount to saying that if we lose it doesn't matter.

Imagine Chris Wilder telling the players that if we lose it doesn't matter.

Never in a million years.

Liverpool and City are teams from another planet. If we are at our very best we'll probably get turned over comfortably.

But fuck it, my Saturday is going to be done early, let's have a go. They are a fantastic team but everyone has days where it all goes wrong hopefully we can capitalise if it's theirs

I don't think Wilder believes in free hits to be honest, and he will approach the game as one we can win or at least get something from.
I expect that we will express ourselves a little more with us being at home, but a lot of focus will be on keeping their front 3 quiet. Do that somehow, anyhow and who knows.

it doesn’t . liverpool and city aren’t our direct competitors.. it’s interesting to see that some people have now gone full kn billy big bollocks already saying we should go toe to toe with the european champions and not to do so would be defeatist

Who's gone Billy Big Bollocks?

Wilder has said many times that we're a Premier League team on merit and we'll go out to compete in every single match.

Throwing around phrases like 'free hit' is just defeatist nonsense.

Yes

Great

Tell that to Norwich

i’ll make you a sportsmans bet right now of ten quid to your favourite charity that we don’t go balls out against liverpool

There is a 1 in 50 chance of getting something but todays result has definitely eased the pressure. After the Southampton game I thought we would be in the bottom 3 by the Watford game and then that became huge.

Bit of a different proposition this time to any other time we’ve played them in the last 30 years. A good performance and not capitulating would be fine for me.

really , they seem to still have the same good cup side , come up a bit short league wise
had it in their hands last january 5 point lead and lost it , so still flawed

Third best points total in top flight history and Champions league winners and won 5/5 so far this season. It's not very flawed is it! But I can genuinely see the blades taking at least a point off them next week.

Didnt say they were crap, just think the current European champions are streets ahead of the past ones.
I saw that team from 78 many times and i will tell you this , no way is this team streets ahead of them in fact man for man that team would beat the present pool team. No such thing as a free hit btw in football, take each game on its merits, honestly how many Blades thought we would beat the toffees today, in Wilder we trust

Who is this ‘City’ that people speak of? Norwich? Bradford? Coventry? Leicester? Bristol? Exeter?

When and why the fuck did people start referring to them as ‘City’? Would we ever refer to Newton Heath as ‘United’?

When and why the fuck did people start referring to them as ‘City’?

Probably when they became the biggest, richest, most successful and most famous football club ever to be called City.

It's a bit like when people say Adele. You automatically think of the multi platinum selling, Grammy award winning singer and not the young lass who works down the local Greggs.
