Aside from frustration at our finishing and mistakes at the back, my first thought was how much better your manager has made you. So much more positive than previously under recent managers.

Also the quote in the OP about VAR made me smirk. All the boring ex-pros on TV rattle on about consistency and reducing errors, yet the threshold for overturning decisions is currently so high that I reckon 70% of inconsistent big decisions will stand. Only the absolute howlers will be overturned.

Whereas previously, allowing for human error and fine judgements, I’d just shrug my shoulders at the adverse decisions in Saturday’s game. Now it’s actually far more annoying, because refs get a second opinion, but still the outcomes will be massively inconsistent from game to game.

No penalty to us on Saturday. Penalty to Chelsea on Tuesday. Whilst I personally think both calls would have been harsh, they’re so similar it just renders VAR near pointless. In fact, it’s worse than pointless for how it removes the crowd from its immersion in events.

Anyway, that’s my daily VAR rant over...

Agree about our manager but, I still think there's some way to go before he'll be happy enough to sign an extended contract with us.
I'm glad your team are trying to go for it and hope it pays off. Hate teams that just try and not lose.
If that hand ball was the other way I'd be screaming for a penalty but, not sure if Ward Prowse was pushed or not first. One angle I saw this did seem to be.
I don't like VAR as football in my opinion is a game of human skill and human error which I think in general the officials make less errors then any other person on the pitch. If they are going to use it at least they should try to be consistent. Also hate that there is one law for the attacking team and another for the defending team when it comes to handball in the penalty area and then the same law applies to both teams everywhere else on the pitch.
Good luck for the rest of the season apart from the obvious return game against us!

Watching the PSG v Real Madrid game last night, it struck me that if VAR could wipe out Gareth Bale’s goal for handball, I’m certain that Ward-Prowse should have been penalised for his.
