"LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME", this is about the owners Tony ffs.
I see you as a legend of the club, probably the greatest player to don the red and white, but be careful what you say, sometimes a little thought about what may lay ahead.

Not sure TC & "thought" have shared space very frequently (outwith ha football field)

How long before we re-name the “Tony Currie” Stand then? I think not long.

I bet they don’t re-name it after a local female athlete with a nice bum who’s never been to a game before but has a boyfriend who has. No. They’ll sell the naming rights for big money this time.

Met him about 1997/8 he was in the souvenir shop which for some reason was temporarily located in the john st .We were looking for a manager at the time and I remember him saying " the only way I will get the job is if the fans start getting a campaign going or something similar....true story bro

And then he wouldn't have got it. Because those who knew him at the time would not believe he would make a manager whilever his arse pointed to the ground. And you will note neither did any other club. He would have been like Shearer at Newcastle. Except Shearer won more game than Currie would have done. And I still think Currie was one of the greatest players I have ever seen.

Can't believe all the bad posts about TC, I met him once at a social event, and found him to be an absolutely down to earth guy.
Chatted to him for ages about all things United, only moan he had was about not being told about Man U making a large bid for him, only finding out weeks later and the chance had gone.....

Daughter and her boyfriend worked for several years for Compass and have plenty of stories about how rude he was to the staff. He was always pleasant to fans who remembered him in his pomp, but treated the staff like shit and expected to be treated like a lord. He also insisted on taking 'his wine' home after every game, as some kind of self proclaimed perk. I've lost a lot of respect for him, given how he treated kids working hard for minimum wage.

What is it they say, 'don't meet your heroes'?

On a serious note & not withstanding all the "humorous" misspelt posts, I can't believe the general bad mouthing TC gets on here & the perception of him as a curmudgeonly old twat who treats everyone he meets badly. I have met him on more than a couple of times, in different situations, & he seems perfectly normal to me. I get that he would never be the life & soul of the party, but the way he was on a football field is not who he is as a person, he is actually a bit shy & awkward in company.

He was my hero, I did meet him, & am very glad I have; he is the best player I have ever seen, what he could do with a football was mind blowing, so what he is a bit moody, aren't we all? As fans of this great club we should judge him as a player for us, & not what he is like as a person, not one of us is perfect.

I have to agree here. Irrespective of any personal meetings fans have had with him and I've met him myself one briefly when he signed a card for my uncle, I think its poor taste to be slagging him off on here whether that's for personal meetings with him that didn't go as we would like, and I've had a few of them too, or for resigning, which he's entitled to do.
